    Nik's Poulan Thread

Would you happen to have a 4000 starter pulley for sale?

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Does mine look like the right one for my 4000? The one I have is like the one at the bottom of the left row in your picture

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Thank you to everyone who have helped me with my 4000. Here are some pictures of the flywheel and pulley on my saw. I was able to start the saw this morning in spite of the pulley binding up somewhat. The epoxy seemed to work so far. It does not bind at all when the housing is off the saw...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

You can kind of see it in the last picture I just posted. I don't know what make or model this pulley is but it worked on my 4000, at least until it started coming apart. I'll get a picture of the flywheel and post it.

Thanks for the ebay link Jethro, The part on that pulley that engages the flywheel pawls is different than the one on my saw. Do you think the ebay one is correct for my 4000 and will engage the flywheel properly? Also, I just went to the hardware store and got some Devcon plastic weld epoxy ...

Yeah, it's the one that was on there when I bought the saw on Craigslist. Maybe it was replaced at some point by one from a different model. It does look different than the one pictured in the 4000 service manual.

    Nik's Poulan Thread

I have been trying to get my Poulan 4000 oil pump working. I posted my issues in a previous thread. I have installed a new diaphragm and gaskets, but now I have a starter pulley problem. In the picture below you can see the plastic is separating. It widens under the strain of pull starting...

Thank you for the help. I am about to pull the pump off right now and take a look.

    Nik's Poulan Thread

The wrist pin that came with the piston was too small in diameter. I reused the original wrist pin which is pressed in. The bearings I think I got at a local Fastenal in my town, or maybe I ordered them online, I don't remember. But they pressed in just fine using a long bolt and various...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

I will keep you posted on how it does. I did notice right off that it has very good compression, at least by how it felt pulling it. But that could also be from the gasket delete. I have been doing some searching for info on the oiler pump and it appears that they can be fragile and need to...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

I just ran my Poulan 4000 chainsaw for the first time after rebuild today. New piston and ring kit from Lil Red Barn, new bearings and seals, cylinder base gasket delete. Now I need to figure out why the oiler isn't working. It worked fine before I took the saw apart. Video Link:

    2018 Chainsaw Projects

I have a disassembled poulan 4000 to put back together. I am having a lot of trouble getting the seals in though. I have ruined 2 already trying to get them in straight If anyone has some advice on how to get them in I would appreciate it. I was also just given a Homelite Super EZ to check over...

    Stihl Ms 391

I have an 029 that was unusually hard to pull, and once started would only idle and then die immediately when any throttle was given. It took me quite awhile to finally find the problem. The coil wires were rubbing on the back of flywheel causing drag on the flywheel. It runs great now since...

    Husqvarna 350 Chainsaw Coil Questions

Thanks Duce. The saw was having trouble staying running when the throttle was let off from full open. It would stall every time. I found that the problem was the black wire from the coil had been pinched between the starter cover and housing at some point and was nearly severed. It was...

    Husqvarna 350 Chainsaw Coil Questions

I recenty bought a used Husqvarna 350 chainsaw and have a question about the coil. On my saw the coil doesn't seem to have the right radius to match the radius of the flywheel. When the bottom contact gap is set right the top contact is quite far from the magnets. I can't get both contacts to...

    Yee Haw.....E-Free gas now available.

I have 2 stations with ethanol free gasoline I get my gas from for my saws, one has 88 octane and the other 91. I also treat it with fuel stabilizer, and since I started doing that I have yet to have a carb related issue with any of my saws even when they have sat unused for far too many...

    Husky 55 Rancher

I purchase a 55 Rancher on Ebay for $200.00 including shipping a couple months ago, and recently sold it locally for 220.00. I kind of regret selling it though. After cleaning it up, tune-up, and muffler mod, it surprised me how powerful it was.

    Intake Question Stihl 038 Magnum

UPDATE: I got the baffle from Northwood Saw and installed it today. It fixed the problem I was having with the choke flap not closing when the control switch is in the choke position. So, at least on my 038 Magnum, the baffle is a necessary part for proper function.

    Intake Question Stihl 038 Magnum

Hello. I just finished rebuilding a Stihl 038 Magnum and I have a question about a part that shows in the parts list but is missing on my saw. I have attached the pages from the 038 IPL showing part number 4 called baffle. My saw is missing this part. I was wondering if it is supposed be...
