    How to replace bar tip

I’ve never had this happen in 40 years of running a saw. My bar got pinched in such a way that the nose sprocket will not break loose. It is a Tsumura. I have no idea how to replace it. Please give me instructions and a source for a new nose sprocket. Thanks.

    Red Oak- Dust!

This might be a chain sharpening question. Cutting this old red oak has me confounded. My experience when cutting harder wood will give less cohesive chips as opposed to soft wood with a sharp chain. But I can’t understand why I get so much saw dust in big rounds, ones larger than a 20” bar...

    Tree ID Please

This is very aggressive. The trees have smooth bark. The seeds are lobed like a maple but will be several of them in a single row. First glance at them sprouting from the ground made think it was poison oak.

    Best less than 50cc saw

I’m looking for a replacement saw for my father in law. He’s retiring his 028 super and needs something considerably lighter. Prefer professional saws. I thought of MS241 and noticed is no longer offered. So thinking of echo or husqvarna, 16” bar, micro chain, light, dependable, easy to start...

    Bar lengths

Let’s say you have all the power heads covered. What bar lengths would you choose to cover likely contingencies in the southeast US? I have 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 30, 36, 42 (mix of husky and stihl). I could probably narrow that down. Think 3 saw plan.

Any bee keepers in the house?

Don’t know if this is the correct forum or not. I have an old Catawba tree that has had a hive for at least 10 years probably more. I don’t want to disturb the bees but the problem is that the tree needs to come down, it is rotting at its base. So when it comes down I need to relocate the bees...

Best 30 to 40 cc saws

I really could use a wee wittle saw for some of the small crap I cut, cedars, crabapple, stuff with lots of small limbs. Chunking up trunks 8” to 10” in diameter. I’m thinking a 16” bar. Must be light, nimble, quick reving, and strong in the cut.

Problem with grass in the garden

Hey up! I have about a 1/4 acre garden that I work on the weekends. I know that’s not optimal since Mother Nature could care less about my schedule. But for several years I’ve been able to make it work. However, the past three years have been awful because of the grasses because of beaucoup...

    372xp x-torq questions

I stopped at the co-op the other day to pick up some wedges. There were some shiny new saws hanging on the wall. They had a 372 there. Always thought they were ugly. Like a Ford transit ugly. I was bored so I picked it up and held in my hands. It had a 24” bar on it. As I pulled it towards my...

Dolmar half to full wrap handle

Got a 7900 with heated half wrap handle bar. I want to change it to a full wrap, heated not necessary but preferred. What do I need to make this work?

    Spooge VP premix oil

Recently got several bottles of VP synthetic premix oil. Was all excited. Mixed with non-ethanol, 93 octane @ 40:1. After one gallon in my 562 (ported) screen was black with spooge. Inside the muffler was covered in it. Buildup on the exhaust side of the piston. The plug was dry and a uniform...

    Filling checked voids in cookies

I milled some red oak cookies. The are about 26" by 40". I know they are going to check. I want to use epoxy resin to fill the voids but the product I have is very expensive (west system) and want to use something less expensive that sands well. These cookies are going to be tables. I'm thinking...

    Recoil problem?

Got the ms 660 out today to cut some cookies off a stump. Starting ritual normal except it died as soon as it fired (second pull on fast idle). Okaaaay, never had that happen. Didn't sound like the motor seized. It just spun down like I flipped the switch. Go to pull again and the cord won't...

    461/576 dilemma

I want a new saw. These two have been discussed but the info is a few years old and well my questions are not fully answered. The saw will wear a 28" bar, full comp RS chain. Max cut would be 24" oak/hickory/cherry. The 28" length is primarily for reach in tops that are down to avoid having to...

    As luck would have it...

I've had some thoughts plaguing me lately. First, I need to trim these limbs on the walnut because they're a pain to mow around. Second, I really need to get someone out here and take down these limbs on the oak because I'm worried that the big one off the main trunk is going to fail and take...

    Can warped boards be straightened?

I milled some hackberry awhile back. Two and a half inches thick and about 36" wide. They were stacked and stickered. I didn't put any weight on top of the stack. A couple have some warping now. Will weighting the stack now help to flatten them out?

    New Handlebar

Got me a new handlebar from Weber Customs. Pretty ain't it? I bent the crap out of my aftermarket half-wrap when I got pinched. This full wrap is really stout. I like to rotate my wrist to set the brake and now I can do so easily. With the textured finish I feel like I don't have to squeeze the...

    Half-wrap handlebar

I bent the crap out of my AM handle bar on my ms660. I need a replacement. Is there a decent AM out there that won't bend when you look at it funny?

    562xp porting worth it?

The title pretty much asks the question. I want to have my saw ported. It runs really well as is and doesn't exhibit any of the negative issues posted out there. What I would like to realize with a port job is an expanded torque curve, improved throttle response (not bad as is but better is...
