would appreciate your opinions on the solo range of saws compared with sthil or jonsered. i used to own a small solo 20 years ago and i was really impressed with what it could do.are they still as good?

I have a Solo 681 and really like it. I don't have near the experience as some on this site with a wide range of saws but IMO in ranks right there with the best at least comparing to my Husky's.

not necessarily in order, i'd pick these over a solo

husky
jonsered
stihl
echo
shindaiwa
kz
oleomac
redmax
dolmar / makita

probably others ive forgotten.....

I quit agreeing at number four on that list, but who cares......

If I had to make a list, it would start this way;

Husky
Jonsered
Stihl
Dolmar
..then probably RedMax...

For older saws (1970s or so), Partner would be number three, not Stihl - and Jonsereds number one.......

...don't shoot me, only playing games here.......:greenchainsaw:

Well I can tell you the Solo 681 will run a little ahead of the Dolamr7900 and many know the reputation of that saw. And my comparison is to my 395XP. Both saws I bought new. If I had to keep just one it would be the 681.

echo is bad i admit... like i said the list wasnt in order.... but its not as bad as solo.

at least the echo will last longer

:D:D:D

the last time solo was used in any forest was 1985...

in conclusion, the answer to the question of solo v stihl = STIHL
