How come Tommy (Thall) has'nt chimed in? Suspicious???

Tommy did it again!

last week he was running Nigerian money scams now he is the Stihl gestapo!

Actually, I bet he doesn't care what we think and he agrees with the company policy. He likes the way the saws run stock and fixes them to perform as they did new. Just like how 99% of car owners don't hop them up, I bet most saw owners just run em as they are. Its not a big deal to most people.

Yup I did it,haha. Hell I don't even post that much anymore. I read the 1st post and all the replies, can't help but laff. Whats all the fuss about? The only odd thing I noticed is there's no name at the end of the e-mail, thats odd for every single e-mail I get from Stihl the person who sent it has his or her's name on it. Even so whats the big deal, wanna mod your saw mod it, knock yourself out. I can assure everyone thats complaining Stihl is somehow worried about what goes on this site and is somehow discouraging anyone do to anything on here is funny as hell. Stihl, like me, are too busy rolling stock out the door to be worrieing about the mod market, a market so small most people don't even know what a modded saw is. The mod market would be equal to a grain of salt in the ocean compared to the stock saw user. I reckon its refreshing to some who may have thought the saw companies gave a hoot in hell about the mod market, sorry to disappoint but in order to mod a saw it has to come from where, a saw company first, my my another sale,LOLOL

Must be true. I called Stihl headquarters at Virginia Beach asking about factory tours three weeks ago when I was staying a few days down the street. Some guy in their Public Relations Department let me know that they were way too busy making power equipment and did not have time for anything like that. He then politely asked me if I would like to submit my resume to the Human Resources Dept. because they are hiring for several positions.

*"Number one selling brand" is based on syndicated Irwin Broh Research (commercial landscapers) as well as

Thinking of Modifying Your Equipment?
Think Again!
While it may be tempting to tweak your chain saw to get more power, modifications like this for normal operations are dangerous, expensive, illegal and a deal-breaker for warranties. So before you attempt those modifications, here are some things to remember:
Power modifications often result in increased noise level,
which can be a violation to ANSI and OSHA standards.
The increased exhaust emissions can result in the
chain saw falling out of EPA and CARB requirements.
Alterations can create a fire hazard by changing the spark
arrestor system, allowing for the interaction of heated exhaust
gasses with highly combustible material.
Being caught with illegally modified equipment could
pose serious legal and financial risks.
Alterations to chain saws void manufacturer warranties
and decrease their longevity.
Trust the experts at STIHL to chain saw design. They
deliver a product that gives you the power you need while
meeting legal and safety requirements.

Too funny Rude for its true. Stihl is having a banner year. The 08 and 09 slump in the industry is over for Stihl, don't know about the others. Hell I'm having a great year after a slow last year. Had one order today from one person, $7000.00. With orders like that coming in who cares about a grain of salt in the ocean, the mod market, ha, what a joke...

That guy you spoke to Rude, he called me to let me know he's building your next purchase, sorry about the tour,LOLOL

I agree, I don't understand why they would care or why it would matter if they did. There is a name attached to an excerpt of an article in post #58. This guy seemed to care enough to be interviewed and politely discourage non Stihl sanctioned modifications in the process.

Awesome piece there, that's corporate advertising. Far the modding part of it they are merely telling the truth based on the laws they have to abide by in order to manufacture products in the USA..

If there are indeed "spies" on here, they aren't paying close enough attention. I'm sure there are plenty of members here that sell stuff online, even though they signed a contract stating that they can not and would not.

I doubt they even care what we do to our saws. They prolly just send stuff like that out to please the right people.

Well for what it is worth there is not a saw company this world that you could call and get them to say sure its ok to modify your saw over the phone, not one and they have good reasons why they won't..
