i was popping the flywheel loose..and boogered up the threads. thankfully it was on the .50 cent nut, and not the crank...i didnt use any locktite as the flywheel is keyed and as long as you get it tight it should be perfectly fine because the key doesnt allow the flywheel to spin or move, and the not is just holding it tight onto the taper of the crank.

LOL i done that a few times. but i always had a rethreader untill now. and now i can't find half of my bits and stuff to rethread nuts and bolts with.i think i let someone barrow them and they never returned them. so my new rule is never let someone barrow tools unless you know where they live

The key is just there to index the flywheel for the timing. It's not there to hold anything. The taper on the crank holds the flywheel. But no, you shouldn't need locktite. I've never had one come off.

ok thanks i'll remeber that i'll just snug it down real good where i know it will hold it on there good.

056 Stihl just in... It's a friend's grandfathers 056 AVSE passed down after his death. He wants me to get it running but doesn't have a lot of cash. I'm putting in the time and he's suppose to buy the parts... That being said can I beg, trade, or swap a decent 056 case from someone? His case is somehow cracked down the middle of the flywheel side... I think a 045 crank case 1/2 will work to if I'm not mistaken...

PM me with what you have and what you need... be it $$$ or parts and I'll see what I can dig up!

Thanks,
Nathan

I've got a jred 520 with "bad top end" (haven't checked it yet myself), used bars and chains for small mount stihl 12-14in (maybe 16in, and 12in are like new!), some 029/290 parts...ummm... might be able to scare up a dolmar 109-111 ph in good running order... and cash if need be... I'm pretty good at finding things people need to if you're in the market for something specific...

my top end is in perfect shape... might need new rings but that's it. the case is broke out above the clutch pretty bad and cracked on the flywheel side not to mention the front pocket for the front av mount is broke on the flywheel side. A new crank case will solve 40% of my problems.

Also need for the 056:
top hand guard
fuel/impulse line
av mounts
starter pawls
plug wire
chip deflector for cluch cover

I need to make some room, anybody need one or all of these?

Runs fine

Complete, minus the powersharp parts. No guarantees beyond that. Some corrosion on a few edges.

Runner.

Parts only, muffler was loose and melted a hole in the top of the tank.

runner, new fuel line. Needs an airfilter.

What you see is what you get. I haven't touched the chains on these either, maybe that's a good thing. :D

Still up for grabs
