I'm happy to take one for the team (unlike the cow).

I think you might be right about the responses being funny, although I think this thread (which was how I found this site) might be better: http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/131997.htm

Yesterday I was telling my wife something chainsaw related and I referred to "the blade". As soon as I said it I stopped and laughed thinking about how glad I was that no one here heard me say that.

Oh, wait, did I just type that out loud?

stab you in the eye, with a hot french fry.

Happytule...the answer to your question is YES. Mostly. And welcome to AS.

Thank you!

After wading through all the abuse and disregarding 90% of the replies, I've decided there must be something to Torque Point of Rotation because when I googled it I got lots of hits and none of them contained any reference to smart-azzed arborists, hucksters, or cruel practical jokers, so I'll do some more reading on that.

As for leverage, while getting the crap beat out of me yesterday fighting with my well-aged, rather large eucalyptus logs (a couple of cuts were 36") I decided I would go ahead and spring for a set of felling dogs. Bailey's swears I will wonder how I ever got along without them, so we'll see...

I do know the single, rather pitiful dog that came on the saw is pretty much worthless when I try to lever down into the log, I'll get a little bite, but then the dogs slips out of the bark and I'm standing there frustrated.

Last night I ordered a set of Pro-Safety dogs from Bailey's and threw in a couple of wedges that look like they might be good for holding the back door open. They got my order up to fifty bucks so I could get my $10 coupon to work.

Actually I think I'm finally getting a handle on properly sharpening my chain, but I'm still having to sharpen after two cuts. But the chains are probably not very good quality and the logs are big and the wood hard.

For the most part I'm getting nice sized chips, nothing long and curling, but I don't thing eucalyptus ever cuts that nicely...

all jabbing/kidding aside ,the 5 points hang down below the clutch cover ,and work better with their full wrap handlebar ,the 4 points work good with factory handlebar

Ok, that's something else new. I didn't know such a thing existed.

I think at Bailey's they mention in the FAQs section that you get "an extra inch above and below" with the dogs. I may have to order one of those handlebars.

Although now I'm wondering if my saw will fit in the case with those points sticking down...
