i use echo red armor and it has a slight sweet odor when i burn it but smelling it right out of the bottle smells like a mix of hypoid and fish oil :dizzy:

Thank you for the excellent detail. So would you rate Maxima K2 as having the least odor?

Least is hard to say, maybe less offensive in odor. You're burning fuel and oil, the type of fuel effects smell greatly as well. I'm fine with all of the oils I listed. The only way for you to find out is to buy a few small bottles and find out which one you like best. TrueFuel 50:1 uses Motul 800, so you could buy a bottle at Home Depot to see if you like it.

If you can obtain it in the US you could try Ipone synth it smells of [Fraise/ Strawberries] there is also one which I have not used & cannot think of the name of banana`s.

This was a very useful thread. I've been using Stihl ultra without a bother to me but it leaves a strong smell on my clothes and I have gotten a headache while running saw after saw on the dyno. I'm going to try something else. I have a bottle of Motul 800 on the way.

I used motul 710 and it worked great in saws. I pulled one down after a few gallons of it and everything was nice and wet with oil. It may be thinner than the 800 but seemed to be leaving plenty of lube.

Trufuel smells much more strongly than e93 and the husky LS

We need to get Gary in here. Quick.

I agree with getting the expert oil man back . How is he doing these days ?
I remember him saying that he was onto some other hobbies and wouldn't be on here as much.

I think Polaris makes a 2smoke oil that smells like cotton candy , maybe some of you sled guy's have smelled this ? Or am I just blowing smoke ?

This thread is not official till it gets Gary's stamp of approval.

Thanks everyone for making this a really helpful, informative thread! I am going to try out Maxima K2, and KenJax has graciously offered to send me a 3.5oz bottle or two of Amsoil Saber to try out as well.

Hopefully this thread will help a lot of other guys find the cleanest, least odorous oil for their OPEs.

You guys rock

I have run the echo power blend for the last several years at 45/1,,,,,, I love the smell of it since it smells like a snackie's 3 week non washed crotch:msp_rolleyes::msp_rolleyes::msp_rolleyes:,, just kidding,,, there isn't a whole lot of smell with it,, least I haven't noticed much but I don't make it a habit in sniffing the muffler either

All I smell is the sweet smell of lead in my 2 strokes. The sunoco maximal in my race sleds with dominator and the 100LL with Ultra in my saws. Just out of curiosity does it really matter if you use non-aircooled 2 stroke oil (ie. dominator, Klotz, etc) in a saw?

Well..I guess you can pick your poison...I have 'read' that 'dominator' should Not be used and also 'read' folks
using it for years with No problems...I just don't understand why someone would run it instead of 'Saber'..??

Yeah I wouldn't but isn't the belray, klotz, and motul used for watercooled applications also.

I honestly wouldn't know...I can only get Bel-Ray in my area..at least that I'm aware of.

I suggest you check the other's websites for more info.. - I get Amsoil Saber at $10.25 a quart..(half $ Stihl Ultra)

Also there's just something 'funky' about the Ultra smell...to me...can't place it...but don't buy it anymore.
