You have to be found gulity of having them at large PRIOR to someone hitting them to make that stick. Kansas is also a no-fault state and the reason the law you quote doesn't hold water is because back in the day someone sued the state when they hit a deer and it was found the state couldn't "control" the deer on "manage" and if you hit one with your vehicle it was a no-fault wreck. They then applied this to livestock as LIVESTOCK isn't "any domestic animal, other than dogs and cats, to run at large" its livestock. disscussion over.

Sorry to hijack the thread there. I'd still say the biggest problem the OP has is he drives a FORD instead of DODGE. lol

I don't think the OP has a problem but some of us here do

so, what are you lookin at for a replacement to that winch?
Probably a farmi, but I'd consider any of the major brands if the deal is right. I'm only getting a new winch if I get a tractor to go with it. A bigger tractor would tear my winch apart

Any preference on the tractor?

That's cool that you have turned a hobby into something $. I have done that a little with chainsaws since finding AS and learning a little about them. This place helped a lot with that.

Hey- we are forecast to get some melting and rain soon. Almost afraid to believe it this winter has been so long.

I'm pretty partial to ford no surprise haha. New holland would be fine too. Nothing brand new they just take too much abuse in the woods.are you tuning saws? Selling them?

Have you picked out a model tractor and winch for the wish list?

I am mostly a parts washer and assembler on the saw, rebuilt a few runners so far. Still learned to tune them properly.

O
I'm trying to come up with a smart remark but honestly pretty hard to knock a cummins lol
Have 441k on one... 1 set of injectors and 1 front end rebuild. No tranny work (automatic even) no injector pump... LOTS of tires and a few sets of brakes.... oh, and LOTS of fuel filters, oil filters and sore butts from the uncomfortable seat!

its been a great trailer just not big enough sometimes. I would like to be able to fit three cords and take the tractor so i dont have to make two trips every time i load up. its going on craigslist in the next month or two, hoping to find a good used tandem dually deckover

So what are you putting it on cl for? $$$ wise.

i would love to work on saws besides the normal maintinance

i kind of have my eyes on a 3910. i would consider a 2120 as well but would much rather have a straight axle up front
whatever size farmi fits well with one of those, 501 is it?

haha you know ive found that pretty hard to do with a gooseneck, a bumper pull on the other hand...
wanna bet! lmao! I've seen several SEVERAL 1 tons pretty close to dragging a time or two... it wasn't safe, it wasn't pretty and they didn't go very far. We put 3 stacks on round bales on a goose neck to get home a couple times.

haha yeah ive seen some two but i dont think i could put enough on that trailer before breaking something. I saw a guy on you tube load a big rig behind a f 250 and loaded the big rig with all the weight forward it looked pretty funny

we had 12 on the bottom, 8 on the 2nd row and 6 on top if i remember right. it wasn't safe... we had about 4 miles down a dirt road to go and didn't care at that point. We strapped the back 2 bales on the bottom and that was it. My buddies f350 didn't like it very well but my other buddies dodge was idling along about 30 while i followed with the tractor.

haha another dodge guy!

I'm a dodge guy through and through... so long as it rattles lol. I'm actually a chevy man but I can't afford to drive one if you know what i'm saying. The cummins has such cheap cost of ownership i can't afford a ford or a chevy and i can't afford the fuel for them either. They ride better but sure don't pull any better and at the end of the day the cost per mile is half in the dodge or close to it.
1 set of injectors at 8 grand for a chevy ...... 3 grand on a dodge... 5 grand on a ford. High pressure oil pumps on fords suck, the chevy's don't last 600k nor do the ford.
The dodge is basically buying 2 pickups for the price of 1 plus the fuel mileage.

BTW you couldn't get me to walk across the street to buy a gas dodge, they are helpless wonders

haha ive heard that about the gas jobs. Ive had pretty good luck with fords. My 6.0 was disapointing but we all knew that anyways. My 6.4 honestly was an awesome truck and took a serious 100000 mile pounding with less than minimum maintinance and never fixed a thing. With a spartan tuner and dpf delete it was a monster. I only have 5k on the new truck but so far im very impressed and have heard very good things about the reliability of the 6.7 but yes pretty hard to beat the cost of ownership of a cummins. i hear the newer ones have much improved transmissions too

Say, what was it about the 6.0 you didn't like? Was it the maintenance? You catch the head problem? I've got an OBS 7.3 & imho, it's one of the greatest rigs ever made but it's at the point where im at a crossroads, sell it while it's worth something & buy newer or start with the body work that's soon down the road. 2006 & up is out of the question as i don't want big loan. I'd like to get another Ford but if i was to get a 6.0 & run into the head problem it would put me down for quite sometime. Chevy is cool, but don't know much about them.. Then there is Cummins, i wasnt aware of there superior fuel eco & low maintenance cost.. The flip side to that is, most ppl i know with them have 2 or 3 transmissions in them so it sounds like a wash unless i could find a 6speed. Do they even make them in 6speed or is it a 5?

Which one are considered newer with stronger trans?

my 6.0 actually had a bunch of small problems that werent the common ones. it never had huge issues but the down time was aggravating. dont get me wrong when it was running right i liked it a lot. hopefully a dodge guy can chime in about the transmissions, the standards were never the issue it was the autos. the 7.3 was/ is about as bullet proof as any cummins imo.i dont think any of the newer diesels will last like the old ones with the emissions equipment they all have to carry now. its pretty hard to knock a duramax imo but im not sold on a independant front end and i think the allison gets a little too much credit. let the brand wars begin hahahaha

btw i wouldnt rule out a 6.0 entirely, they can be bought very cheap and with a egr delete and head studs are every bit as reliable as the rest. i know many people with them near or over the 200 mark and lots of life left. the torqshift is also hands down the toughest tranny of the bunch
