image.jpg So October 2014 I purchased a dht 22 log splitter from lowes. Less than $900 before tax. Here is the journey the splitter has taken so far. I split a couple pieces of wood. Then I knew I needed a table. A little cutting, welding, grinding table done. Now I need a way to bring the wood to my level. I hope dht is not angry for changing there product. I have been very happy with it just needed a few changes. Pictures to follow...

I like what you're doing. Made my splitter horizontal/vertical and hated splitting vertical on the big ones. Had same problem as you when I wanted to add log lift, tire in the way. Added a boom to lift the bigger ones instead of flipping beam around. You will love not having to split vertical.

Looks good, I'm not wanting to damper your enthusiasm but I would reconsider the angle iron you are using for the lift table .It may not be heavy enough
for the task and may bend or wrap when placed under a load.

I used 2 inch thick way square tubing on mine .

Looks good, though maybe we could have saved you some effort on the table. These are in stock on our website.

I have the other table on my 27 that i got in December. While I love the splitter over many other brands boy do I hate that table. No matter how hard I tighten all the bolts it inevitably loosens up a little and tilts down just enough to throw the wood on the ground. I've also had to move at lightening speed to keep a large split or piece of log from vibrating off and falling on the motor. It looks like the new version fixes that by be larger and by not having a curve to it.

Any chance of a trade in? I was really thinking of fabricating one myself because I'm really unsatisfied with the one I have but would rather go with the new one.

I'd offer 2 quick solutions. 1) rough up the location where the bolts hit the paint with sand paper, that will help them from slipping or 2) just put a few washers under the support brackets where the bracket touches the web of the beam (vertical surface), this effectively will 'tip up' the table, making the supports longer. Then it doesn't matter if the bolts slip. Problem solved.

I'll give it a whirl. Thanks. There was something I was thinking about the other day while splitting a little bit that I was going to suggest or ask about but I can't remember at the moment.

Maybe a drink holder option because it was real hot out there the other day.

If I think of it I'll pm you.

are you going to put a receiver on the other end? only reason I ask is wood will pile up between the splitter and tow vehicle unless you stack as you go, or clean up b4 you move.
