$1100
So THAT'S how they can afford to sell so cheaply in the USA!:yoyo: :yoyo: :yoyo:
But seriously, Husky beeing much more expensive than Stihl here on the home market allows them to go a bit under Stihl on other markets. Pure simple marketing strategy. Some people here have severe difficulties to understand that...
In this case (ms260 700USD, 346Xp 1100USD), you get what you pay for

If that were the case, then so be it. Maybe our premium prizes on Husqvarna saws subsidizes the prices on some other market/s, but it can't apply to the American market.
We're only 9 million people here in Sweden, Norway and Finland has about 5-6 each (excuse my ignorance neighbours), Iceland and Denmark does not have trees so they're excluded, and America is, what, 230 millions for a ballpark? Don't know how many of each populations that buys saws, but to say that the American market would be 10 times that of Scandinavia's is probably still on the low side.
Although we Scandinavians are both rich and famous, and pretty handsome on top of that, there ain't no way in 4311 we could successfully subsidize the whole American market, no matter what prices we payed here.
I'm totally with you on that it's a marketing strategy: They just know they can get away with it...
As for me, I would happily buy Husqvarna saws, they're produced in my country, and it's good products of good quality from a company that should make all Swedes proud, since several hundred years, but knowing they're just 5cr3w1ng me with their price policy keeps me away.
Stihl does the same, only the other way around: They're setting their prices way lower here just because Husqvarna has such a firm grip on the Scandinavian market.
If I lived in Germany I would probably buy Husqvarna for just the same reasons...
I agree. However I think the Scandinavian market is bigger than you think.
In Sweden we have agglomerations of small private properties. Only here in the south-east region, there are over 30 000 private forest owners as members in the "Södra" community, which is only one community in one part of the country. There is a very big market for small scale forestry products, take all fire wood processors, tractor processors, small sawmills, ATVs etc.. In other countries, like northern Germany for example, properties are much bigger and more commercial. This country is covered with forest, each property beeing maybe 30 acres in average should have 2 chainsaws, that makes alot of chainsaws..
But I was under the impression that most of our forests was worked on by the use of harvesters, not by some happy farmer/logger with a chainsaw. Just because of those large agglomerations...
