The one dealer that I really miss is the CCD store in Syr. They have been gone now for three years.
When you came in the front door, Stihls were to the right, Huskys to the left and the climbing stuff was straght ahead.
I still use their catalog for chain reference.

That would be my guess. Heavy discounting and raising overhead..........:censored:

Never made their brick & mortor, but do you realize they used to deliver.............all the way to the Champlain Valley. Neighbor tree guy caught several deliveries from them. It sounded like they had a regular route setup and they'd put your stuff out on it.

Nothing like those people too much, anymore. Alot of places charge you delivery for common parts to their store. I'm sorry, I should not be charged a delivery charge for filters! If you carry "brand whatever", you should carry the basics.

Are there any forestry supply place in the upstate area? I thought i saw a place in Hoosick, NY. It was located on Rte 7 going towards Vermont. There was actually a forestry supply place in are area, but that had to be almost 15 years ago now. My father purchased our Efco chain sharpener from there and its still working till this day.

Come to think of it, there is (or was the last time I was through there) a loggers' supply on Rt. 149 between Lake George and Fort Ann. I've never shopped there, and I don't know what brands he sells/services, but it might be worth a try for you. Also, now that I'm thinking a little, I remember seeing a Stihl sign on a business on Rt. 67 in Hoosick Valley or thereabouts over that way between Schagticoke and North Bennington. I suppose if you went to the Stihl and Husky sites, they would list dealers in range of you.

Dude, I've been dealing with the guys over at The Cutting Edge in Greenwich, NY for about 2 yrs now. I gotta tell ya, it's sad that you have to deal with guys 2 hrs away to get GREAT service... Every dealer I'd been to in my area, I'm up near plattsburgh, has totally sucked. Their service sucks, pricing sucks, parts stocking sucks etc etc... I looked everywhere and couldn't seem to catch a break. I don't mean just Dolmar either, I dealt with 4 Stihl dealers as far as an hour away, 3 husky dealers and a Dolmar dealer up here near me that was NEVER around... These guys have gone out of their way for me time and again. When I've needed something I've ALWAYS had it next day from them. And since it's in NY, it's snail mail and it still gets there which makes it very inexpensive. Their stock, no matter what I've asked for, they've ALWAYS had right there. I can't say enough good things about these guys. Even when I've gotten a saw from them they've always got a big pile of wood for me to try the saw before I get it from them in case I don't like it. Along with them being great to deal with all the time, they are great guys to boot... I'd recommend them to ANYONE w/out a second thought and hope you'll give them a try. I promise you won't be disappointed dude. I've yet to stump them with a chainsaw problem that they didn't know about... Good luck and be safe out there eh???

Some times you luck out with a good dealer. The local guys were darn outrageous, so I turned to AS for someone to deal with. I was referred to spike60, who I was able to work with, and got me behind a 372xp. Next time I need a saw, spike60's shop is the first stop.

spike60's shop is about 78 miles away (one way), and I'd buy from him again before my local guy who is 3 miles away .

William (Billy) Bratcher, Gage St. Bennington Vt.

Small shop at his home, all around nice human, full service repairs. :biggrinbounce2:

My next saw will be coming from Spike's shop too, if I ever get there. It is 400 miles one way. LOL

Yup, but depending on where in "upstate NY" (a nebulous phrase coined by people from da city) you are, he may be just as close/closer. He's only 28 miles from you!

Nobody on here been to the husky shop in Warrensberg, NY? I bought my 359 there. (before I met Spike, maybe I'll meet you there someday charlie) I asked for a discount on the saw and the guy said no way but after buying two extra chains and something else, I forgot, he did give 20% on an 8' logging chain.

I'm already contemplating the 50cc and 70cc one two punch.
It'll be a tough decision, but one I'll enjoy making and living with .
