Cliff did they put a bow bar
on the old Titans? When
I found the the Titan J
there was a bow bar setting
there with a scratcher chain
on it It fits the saw! But
no stinger handle but has
a place to mount one?

You did get the Bow bar right?

Yeah they did make some for the old Titans.
I think Ric, saw bones has some info on them
I would want the Bow bar if you do not.

Does the bow bar look like one of these

This is a model 40.

It looks nothing like that. Mine
is all open. You can see the
chain all the way around it!!

I got another craftsman 1200B.

It came with the shorter bar. I had this longer one
hanging in my shed so I put it on this saw.

The manual calls for zinc oxide grease but I assume there are other choices?

Would it be a good idea to take the gearbox apart and clean it before adding new grease? And do you add it through the big hole to the left or the smaller hole to the right? I took both plugs out and both had a little tan grease at the end of them but not much other grease was visible (just a little dab in the smaller hole).

Bump for questions on my 5-49 gearbox.

If your not going to put new bearings in it I would not take it apart.
Just ad new grease. Wheel bearing grease would be fine.
You can pump grease in one hole or both. I would pump some in both
holes so it spreads around better.
I don't know off hand what the manual says, but 1/4 full should be enough.

Mine has some kinda red "grease" Not exactly what I should have used. But no longer than it stays running, it does not matter :) It did run long enough to smoke out the shop the other day.

IIRC, the manual said 1/4 lb.

I took a trip up to Washington just below Tacoma to visit my Daughter and grandson.
While I was there I went to meet Ric [saw bones] and see his place.
I bought two saws and some parts I was needing. I had a nice visit with him.

I got this Craftsman [Reed Prentice] 351.50110
I will take this apart and restore it.
