I'm guessing Maple Ash (Boxelder). I'm burning some of that right now mixed with Cherry.

If I bought a cord of ash and got boxelder I'd be pissed! A boxelder in no way resembles an ash tree other then it's a treeProbably an old firewood seller called it that so it would sell more easily

The bark of boxelder looks much like ash bark.Generations ago B/E was tapped for sap like sugar maple.Thats where the name ash maple comes from.Probably an old firewood seller called it that so it would sell more easily

Yes this is true. Is boxelder what is called swamp maple?I believe boxelder is a member of the maple family as well. Like the black sheep from across the tracks they never claim to be related to or invite to reunions. Lol
