Anyone ever burn one of these?

The tree guy said it was an Ailanthus. Never heard of it and in its green form kinda smells bad. Its got the right price tag on it (almost free, only catch is I gotta pick it up)...just wondering how it burns.

Basically, it's a weed tree. he should pay you!!! you think it stinks now wait till you burn it. (ask me how I know)

Some say it is ok for firewood. It's also known as Tree of Heaven.

It got my vote in the worst firewood poll in this forum a couple weeks ago.

I'd take pine, poplar, cottonwood, or any of the other 'junk' species over it any day.

That said, I suppose it's better than nothing if you find yourself wanting.

Hell....I've burnt furniture....It stinks!

I've burned it. It's about like poplar. I didn't find it at all stinky, but then, it was very dry.

There are a bunch of them right where I work; the wood is so light when I pick a piece of it up that I can't imagine it being good for anything except maybe kindling. I'm sure that you can find lots of better wood than that...
