I wonder if the guy realizes files are only 2 bucks or less and that 5-10 minutes per tank could have avoided this. What a shame.

Looking at the teeth, seems he was going for some big-box-store maul-head look. Mebbe didn't know that you cut the wood first, then split it later. Live & learn (for most folks.)

Likely leaning hard into the saw trying to get it to cut, ripping av mounts, impulse lines and intake boots, that is why it seized, so yes,
that is likely what caused it.

Your pic's -

I don't think that'll cut MOLTEN butter, nor anything else.....

IDEA - take the saw back, and give him(??) a skirt! and a cheap HD bow saw and a blunt ax....
after he graduates some manual labor, a sears $99 special, then go from there

Sorry for YOUR loss:angry:

Pull the muffler and give a pic of the piston.....

He probably was cutting out stumps!

I like Fishes theory.

If there is a 'next' saw....sounds like this guy needs some instruction time! And a saw without AV!

take another look at the tie straps

ditch witch is about right.

I feel your pain. I think I would not have even touched the saw after hearing about it.
Walk away from it.

I will give him a price to fix it.
It will be his call how we proceed from there.
The saw is too good to throw in the trash.
If he doesn't want to fix it, I guess it will be the next one sitting here in my way.
