Chlorinated paraffin, do NOT use if you care about your machinery.

Chlorinated paraffins are highly corrosive and reactive which is why no mainstream lubricant blenders use them, but are beloved of the snake oil crowd.

Just plug the CAS # (61788-76-9) into google and do the search yourselves, don't take my word for it.

You can get the same effect by grabbing a bottle of bleach out of the laundry and tipping a capful into any oil you have on the shelf, it'll have the same effect.
If you really wanted an increased volume of a friction modifier and EP additive, grab a ZDDP based additive and pour in, much much better than a chlorinated paraffin.

Me, I'll stick with my fully formulated lubricants that are blended by reputable companies thanks.

Thanks!

I did not catch it in the MSDS tell you mentioned it, but knew that there could not be much to this ER stuff.

Seen a bearing tester (a real oil tester) test out plain ol AD #30w better with a cap-full of Pepsi stirred into it, the phosphor in cola had a higher heat transfer then the plain #30w .

I agree...

Can't put my finger on it...theres just something about her:jawdrop:

......Rather not know what you're doing with your "snake oil"......

Only way it would make you skinny Nik....

FOR THE LAST TIME,will it make me skinny?

If you sneaked some of that crap into Brad's 090 and it blow into a million pieces,,,I'll say you'll be skinny for running for your life....LOL!!!!

If anyone wants a brief read of what Chlor paraffins do, have a read of this thread on BITOG. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forum...nated+MolaKule&topic=0&Search=true#Post936481

Bruce and Molakule are triboligists which is a fancy word for oil blenders. Molakule is a professor in physics and i can't remember his chem qualifications but he has more academic qualifications than you can poke a stick at. He's blended oils for the US Military (missile program IIRC) and some very good race oils, Bruce blends mainly specialised industrial lubricants and probably the best shock absorber fluid I've ever seen specs for (and I have pages of shock fluid specs) If I was still racing, Bruce's damper fluids would be used every rebuild.
These two blokes know their stuff.

Cheap oil is cheap oil, it dose not have the film strength*, why not use Shell Rotella T and you won't have to add anything to brake in a cam.

One of the best cam-grinders/manufacture there is, Comp Cams also makes some of the steepest lopes possible, there warranty card suggest running Shell Rotella T exclusively. Comp's technicians will also warn you about snake-oils and will drop your warranty in a heart-beat if you told them you flattened one of there lobes with any snake-oil.

If they can't get a cam to brake in on an industrial engine they should really think about getting into some other line of work.

*ER is not an oil additive that would improve film-strength, it's name to claim is a metal-conditioner,,,,,,,, huge difference if your braking in a cam-lobe.

There is nothing I said that needs corrected it is what it is simply a metal conditioner that works as advertized use it or dont I couldnt care less.

I am not interested in telling this guy for you that him and/or his cam company who ever it is dont know what they are doing but thanks for the suggestion but I pass. Thats what kills me about some folks they are obsessed with changing history with their "spin" on the particular topic. lol

As a seasoned mechanic, i seen hundreds of peddlers trying to make an easy buck, i cut no slack for that.

Snake -Oil is just that, huge promises huge buy in's and people fall for it.

No one here is trying to change history, it's still the same, best movie line I ever seen is when crossing the river, Josey Wales asked the Snake Oil salesman if his elixir removed spots?

I'll stick with whats works best for me now...

Maybe luck on my side,,but I never had a engine fail on me...Simple maint. as keeping everything tuned,,,cleaned ,,never go cheepy on replacement wear parts,,,wow,,that would suprize you how much longer your equipment would last....I like my Stihl oil,,and bar oil....Never failed me yet....

I have to admit the comments this guy got make me ashamed to hang here guys there is bs and there is tolerance to things unknown be nice.

You should be more embarrased to have someone so poorly represent a product you evidently believe in. I'm not one to just attack someone, especially a newbie. But I can smell snake oil a mile away and I was two miles away when I smelled this stuff. I'm sure the OP is a great guy, he just barked up the wrong tree.

I cant wait....

Let him try some Gary Goo,,and watch him flush that other crap down the crapper..... :hmm3grin2orange:

It's all to funny for that, it's real clear there are not many here that would try this stuff in there saws or anything really, after the fist page or 2 , it only gets worst as real life experiences chime in.

But it makes you skinny!

Shell out a $100 frog-skins and your give up your lunch to justify the money you wasted.

Cool !! Yeah this doesn't bother me at all. I'm an old hand at a variety of discussion forums and I own and operate one myself on a different subject matter. I'm only bothering to respond back to a few of the more silly responses or outright unseemly attacks on my good character
