bandit 200+ oil ?

hey all , thanks for reading. just bought a 97 bandit 200+, deutz dieasel 4 cyl. it has 1170 hrs. on it. the motor checked out good , runs good oil pressure 55 , oil temp good. it is oil cooled also, the problem is oil - thick oil- coming out of the muffler, so evidently somethins not good. any ideas? thanks
