And yeah, I have been a part of the ####storms in the past. Particularly the brad fin fiasco. This is a tacit recognition that I was wrong to get involved.
Never really advocated sweeping it under the rug, but the noose party thing is kind of bad.
If the other party doesn't respond, that means he is guilty? Kind of like a witch hunt.
If he does, then the mob splits and there is a small civil war?
Maybe if the thing is isolated to the parties involved, and a moderator?
The moderator asks pertinant questions, and maybe introduce other past bad dealings, and keep
all of the childish bull to a minimum.
Actually, it could be relocated to an actual and potentially very popular sub-forum, kind of a
"People's Court", heck I would even love to be the judge on that one.
I always insist on hearing both sides before forming an opinion.
Slamm could be the district attorney.
Or I could be the court appointed defending attorney, if the accused doesn't want to actively
participate.
When the thread winds down, the members could be the jury, and vote in a poll.
Of course any punitive damage could only be limited to the respect of the forum members here,
unless both parties agreed to abide by the decision of the members.
Something like that might be interesting.
I will have consider this "pro bono" work, on a case by case basis.
Just out of curiousity, do we get badges or anything? I always wanted to do something where I got a badge, LOL. Will there be metal detectors that we have to walk through at the ArboristSite Courthouse? Just wanted to know if I needed to leave "anything" at home or not.

Yes Space it is buyer beware but what is wrong with having as much info as possible before doing any business. I believe a feed back thread would be worth the info it provides vs the crap some may put in it.
A thread a feedback?
I can see it now! A person who post a lot will have a posse for pure reason to just post!
Even if my gripe is worthy, I will be slammed by ban-wagoners just because he goes to their church or they think that member is a master saw builder. Haven't we seen it before! Just combine all the BS and Beetch threads and that would be the feedback thread!
Nope, seen it done, no conversations allowed, you either say something good about the deal, something bad about the deal that YOU personally took part in, or the post is deleted, PERIOD!
Maybe like on eBay...a one time reply reputation feedback...Ask ropedog and sawgarage how that is working out for them!
Or better yet yet, look how long it takes for a thread to get deleted, and those that would see something before deleted. Look how things are now, not much would change in a thread like that.
I think it's a good idea to have a venue that allows us to make up our own minds about whether or not a wrong has been done. The only way we can get that information is reading the posts written by the people involved.
I don't like the lynch-mob mentality either but a certain amount of that is probably to be expected. It doesn't speak well of those doing it and I think it demeans us as a group. Maybe the mods could find a way to hold the ankle biting to a minimum and let us judge the whole thing on the conduct of those directly involved.
I've seen many cases on AS where, had we been privy to information regarding scams and untrustworthy members, a lot of grief and monetary loss could have been avoided.
I don't like to see the dirty laundry aired but I think we have a right to look at it if we want...and decide for ourselves.
