No IE here.  Don't you have a method via right click or shift+click on the link to open the link in a new window?  I'm thinking that would be the same effect and avoid copy/paste, etc.

Another option would maybe be to fetch the Firefox browser, or maybe Opera, and at least in the one respect get out from under MS' "we know better than you what you want" mentality.
