Turn the chain box up and look at the top.................the narrow top.......not the front

I will have to do that tomorrow. Not sure if they all came with the same chain and someone who bought one remembers what bar they used?
Stihl saws do not "come with a chain" the bar and chain is selected at time of purchase. The actual saw box you posted is for a 046 with a 3/4 wrap and a 20 " 3/8 pitch bar and chain

You need the drive link count and if it is Stihl chain the number on the cutter and drive tang
that's it! plus pitch

for example: 20" bar, 3/8ths pitch, 050. 72 drive links

see Specifications, page 48

if you need some good Chain Saw Chain Tech 101, Oregon Products has a lot of helpful, useful info on what chain saw chain numbers mean...

any pix of the head? a NIB 044 is super!

Is there no barcode/EAN or parts number on the chain box? You should be able to find out what it is exactly by using that.
