Got some prices
Ms660 with 32" bar $1165 otd
Ms660R ( they are checking to see if they can get one shipped to nc on account of possible regulations)
Ms661 with 32" bar $1270 otd
Can't decide if I want to do old school or do the new technology

I would wait. I was told the 661 is the supreme saw, but wait till they get the kinks out. but cant go wrong with either I like my 660 to

I had the 660 and it was great with 24-28" bars in the wood I cut. I was a bit disappointed with a 36" bar strapped to it, in both the torque and oiling dept. If I didn't have my Stumpbroke 372 and was going from 261 to 562 to ___ it would likely be a 390. Having said that, the 661 has my attention, but I will likely end up with a 395xp unless I find a nice 2188 as the 372 does just fine with a 28" bar. The big saw will be pulling a 32-36" bar and will be used for stumping/bucking LARGE rounds. I'm not as concerned with handling or weight. Hell I'd like an 084 or a Snellerized 880 really...

To the op: If you're looking for handling Terry and Brad are right about the 390 (ported) or the 660 stock for 24"-32" bars. If you're looking for torque and oiling (or beyond a 32" bar), go for the 395, (or a N.O.S 9010 Dolmar, 694 Solo or similar). The 7900/10 is awesome, but it isn't much different than a 460 and stock is likely a good bit behind what Brad already built you. If you want brute power, do as Randymac says: "go forth 6 cubes and fear no evil"...

Thanks for all input fellas.
I would use a 32" bar about an hour or so a year and most of my cutting is done with a 20"-25" bar on the 460. So wouldn't the ms460 brad ported for me keep up with a muff modded 660 with that size bar. Wondering if I would be better to keep the 460 and buy a 28" bar and skip tooth chain and get a 562xp with 20" bar since it would do a lot of the work that the 460 would normally do. Too many choices not enough money.

If you can wait a week or two til I get home you could run a ported 660 and 9010 along with the 460 you have or mine. We could meet up and cut some.

The 661 is the saw that has me really excited. Can't wait for a couple of years from now when I can find a straight gassed one on the bay for half the price :( Bout the only way I am going to be able to afford one!!!

I'll take a ported 460 over a stock 660 any day. The 460 we have will absolutely run off and hide from a stock 660, the 460 has no issue with a 32" bar and we run a 8 pin on the 25" bar. We buy ten wheeler loads of cull logs when tops aren't available in a close proximity. A load will run about 13-15 cord and run 20"-25" in diameter. The boys will buck up the entire load in a day with the 460. Get you a ported 70cc saw save you arms and back.

To add to What brad and others mentioned, if you like torque the 660 is nice. If your more after limbing, the 460/1, 7900/10, 372(ported) 385-390, Solo 681 will ALL pull much faster than the 660 as they're all turning higher revs stock. A 3/8 cutter bites the same regardless of which saw it's mounted on, so then it's up to the loaded rpm/wood/chain sharpness to determine the cut speed. for a larger limbing/bucking saw the 70cc-80cc saws will run much faster and lighter in when pulling a 20-24" bar and around equal with a 28" when compared to a 90cc saw. It's not until you get to 32" and beyond that the 90's come into their own. If you don't plan on a 36" bar (and you said about an hour a year with a 32") I'd vote for the 390 or the newer 461 with a M.M. as the 90's will be slower, unless you're REALLY leaning on them with a 24" bar. My 372 (not sure of the exact displacement) that Stumpy built will destroy a stock 660 in 24" wood or less and that's with a 7-pin. With an 8 it's not even a comparison. If you want speed get a 70-80cc saw. If you want torque, get a 90+ cc saw.
My $0.02.

yall are probably closer to 2hr apart. It's an hour from Morristown to ELizabethton. 30-45m Elizabethton to Mountain City. If Trevor is 30min past Mountain City it's every bit 2 hrs.
