I had a few old power washers stored in my shed that had quit pumping water.
I pulled them out today and tinkered with them and got both running.
One is a BS 5.0 HP vertical 7/8" shaft.
The other is a Honda GC 160 5.0 HP with a horizontal 3/4" shaft.
The honda is puking a little oil from the breather tube between the case and carb.
It also is pressurizing the oil in the case.
I haven't checked yet but I suspect a breather hole is plugged up. (dirt dobber)

Any other reasons why it would be puking oil?

The B&S motor is running perfectly and is exactly the same motor on my splitter.
Yeah!!! I have a spare!
I ran a full tank of fuel at full RPM and a full tank at idle on the B&S.
I'm going to look at the honda later and see what I find.

I found the problem with the honda.
There is a small chamber with a cover and the breather tube goes in a hole in the cover.
I pulled that cover off and it was full of oil buggers and sludge.
I cleaned that out and it quit puking oil and quit pressurizing the oil case.

I had set these pressure washers in my shed because the water pumps quit working but the motors were fine.
They still run after sitting for about 10 years.
The honda was left outside all that time.

It was a good project on a rainy day.

The B&S will be a direct bolt on for my splitter.
The honda will have to wait for a project down the road.

I knew it wasn't the rings.

Good to know - I have one of those Hondas on my splitter. Has worked well so far, but ya never know....
