we just received our sku#,and info sheets to order ms440's. no pricing yet,and dist. is not showing stock yet. i can buy a new 460 3/4 wrap model w/a 28" bar for 815.00,if the pricing is out of line on the 440, i have no interest in one. i am sure stihl is spending big bucks to sell 440's here again,so they are just passing the cost to the end user.

I agree thats some BS I dont see many being sold at that price. Ide go with the 460 first.

I will learn to love my 441 even more at $200.00 less than a 440 . And if i didnt have the 441 and needed a 70cc saw it would be the 460 . Thats unreal to sell that saw at that price.:msp_scared:

I see no reason to even bring them back for that rediculous price. Only the most hardcore 440 lover would even think about buying one. Yes, that price ticks me off, lol.

Ever consider that they may just be bringing the historically ridiculously low prices that you guys pay (on everything, by the way) back up to being in line with the rest of the world?

If you think about it, the price isnt ridiculous. If youre talking about what you paid 5 years ago, well that was 5 years ago and lots of things change. Inflation, costs, etc. If the 441 is $889.95 28", the 460 $999.95 28", the 440 at $949.95 28" then it makes sense. You cant expect the 440 to be in the $700's like it used to be when a 460 is in the high 9's today, but was way cheaper back when.

I paid $700 last January for my MS440, new from the dealer. I buy 460s for $869.

It wouldnt make any sense to sell the 440 today at around 7 and a 460 at high 8's. They need to be within 50 bucks of each other to make marketing sense.

Thats good about your prices but youre the exception because you have a tight relationship with you dealer. The general public is expected to pay near MSRP. Your getting 13%+ on the 460. But also take into consideration, the 440 you got last January was from old stock, not current production. A dealer couldnt even buy a 440 today for $700. You could probably get the 440 a little over $800 currently if you can get 460's at that price.

What hurts is to know that the 372xpw could have been had for 681-700 pho before they were gone....:)
