i got a guy bringing ina few stihls tomorrow for me to look at. he dosent know what models they are but he says the smallest one has a 28" bar on it and but the avg is 32". he also said they had a decompression button on them also.

so me not knowing stihls i know this is kinda a vague question but what models could these possibly be? also if you know the cc of the saw that would be great. ill prolly print out some of the info so i know it tomorrow. if i can get a good enough dal i may buy them all. he also said they were prolly only a couple years old but we will see. thanks for any info, MIke

Could be a lot of different saws, but most likely gonna be 044, 046, or 066 or one of the MS variants.

Could also be one of the ole timers.... something like an 056, 075, 076, 038 etc.

Gonna need some pics ya know.

did the older one have de-comp valves?

Ha, good point I missed the part about the decomp when I read it the first time.

Guess that rules out a few then huh.

My guess is probably 046/MS460 or 066/MS660 or both.

some of the older saws had decomps I know the 075/076 did, not sure about the 056 but I think it didn't?? Maybe on the MagII?? :dunno:
I don't thunk any of the 038’s had a decomp and it kinda rules out the 044 also but the doors wide open for a 440.

Could be some of the bigger saws like an 084 or 088/880 also.

Guess we'll have to wait for the pics.

need more info

28"+ bars, couple of years old, decomps.........

Like the others, I say 440(70.7cc), 460(76.5cc) or 660(91.6cc). Flippy gas and oil caps, 440/460, threaded 044/046. The 066/660 never had flippy caps, only threaded.

Could be any of the following The 084/088/ MS880 came with a decompression release standard. The 044 didn't have a on the early models like mine. I did leave out the 046/460 but looks wise is nearly identical to the 440/044 except a larger fuel tank.

damn he didnt bring em in today he said he and a bunch of crap to do last night and forgot. but everytime i saw him today i reminded him to the point he was like damn it ok ill bring them in lol. so i guess if he dont have them tomorrow ill call bs. so well see what happens. hopefully he does id like to get a couple stihls for comparison as ive never run one before.

ehh whatever i doubt their ripped off. either way i guess hes always selling stuff. maybe hes a lifelong crook i dunno lol. ill score me some saws if i can. if i dont someone else will.

It should be interesting to see what they are, could be some cool projects for you even if they turn out older saws - first rate quality, just heavy.
