Pferd sharpening guides and other brands of files...

Does the Pferd sharpening guides (ChainSharp and CS-X) work ok with other brands of round files? I'm thinking of buying the CS-X but would like to mate it up with some Save Edge and Woodlandpro 7/32" files. The reason that I ask is that it seems I read somewhere that there was a brand of files that the tang was pretty rough on and could possibly foul up the holder...bad part is I can remember the holder of *what*.
