Just clarifying that your nose is technically called a sprocket nose, a roller nose has no teeth.

RE: Greasing the nose
I haven't greased a roller or sprocket nose (especially on a CSM that has an Aux oiler) since about 2007.
My Bucking activities tend to be on the short (minutes at a time) if it was longer I would grease the nose.

Yep I know the difference, just pounding the keyboard too fast.

I like lots of oil/grease, makes things last forever. And I always give the saws a shot of grease to the sprockets after use especially if they will not be used soon as I live in the wet Olympic Mountains of Washington State, right on salt water. Keeps moisture from sneaking in. And I clean the bars and wipe down with a 50/50 mix of WD40 and Automatic Transmission Fluid (the ATF has corrosion preventers).

Here is the plug wrench. I cut down a scrench, drilled through holes, and welded in a length of 4140 alloy rod. Works great in the recessed space around the plug on the 075 and 075 saws.

Yep that’s what my plan was but with a normal socket. Do you some good carb settings would be? I heard about 1 out on both screws. Sound right? Filter and fuel line are in so I’ll go get them tomorrow and possibly have it in some wood. Fuel cap leak if I lean it on its left side. Is that normal? Has a small hole in the top of the fuel cap

My exhaust cover is off a 051 btw that’s why it’s got a goofy fit lol.not 100% sure on that tho. My cover has spacers on it and not sure if someone added them for a reason. Yours has no gap and mine does. Any ideas? Maybe exhaust is different making the cover not fit? Idk lol

Does this exhaust look stock?44347462-94E9-44BF-96EA-E3091E6EA56D.jpeg9F3F89C2-1BF6-4933-9749-60BF878A87BB.jpeg 3C911C0F-E5A4-4ACE-9D68-8B0202AFD387.jpeg

The older 075 had a thinner muffler. So when I bought a new one from the Stihl shop it was thicker and came with the spacers you have on the bolts to space the original cover away from the muffler, There was also an aluminum shim that came with the conversion kit that took up the space you see on yours. So yea, it is "stock".

Oh ok. They must have went longer aswell. Theres about a 3/8” gap. Yours looks much better. Maybe I’ll make a muffler for it

I have had several 075's but gave them to the son in law, he also is an old Stihl collector.

The saw is my photos is a 076AV. A little difference than the older 075's.

I was able to wiggle the piston a little Seemed lose. Going back together now. Got new filter and fuel line inside the tank. Might put a helicoil in the top mount because my 8mm bolt doesn’t fit in the hole. Should be in some wood today34FDD899-979F-4184-8FC9-2A4F7A7BADF2.jpeg

Got it all together and drained the tank and this popped out. Look familiar? Didn’t really worry about it. Got it running. Ran pretty good but missing a little. Hopefully not lean. Made couple cuts in some ash. I’ll check the plug. Sure made some good chips and cut pretty good. Has a lot more bolts holding it together now, that’s my 43” bar 3/8 .050 square8AAEEC26-F48B-4A6F-86CB-BD929EC2CA6C.jpeg 99B038E7-68BA-4EA9-8BF9-5697645E20A1.jpegF00D31AD-FF8B-43F8-8981-678A0A17C155.jpeg AF0C4F0A-F90C-40F6-9DB2-AD88775FC48B.jpeg
