I have a countervibe 3700 needing piston and cylinder. Anyone know if i can put a 4000 jug on it? Or any others? I love my 3400 and thinking maybe fix my 3700 up a little bigger. Thanks

If you can find a 4000 p c it is a straight change to install, everything is going to work. I have done several of them myself. Pull the cylinder and piston off and put the new ones on. Easy to do. The 3400 3700 3800 and 4000 all interchange, same frame different p c . The 4000 muffler has a louver on the side

I see flebay has 2 3700 listed but they are not the thin ring 3700 they are thick ring 3800 or craftsman 3.7 they will work but not as good as the thin ring. It would be a hoped up 3400 with the thick ring stuff. Just my 3 cent opinion that is free today cuz of New Year's .

So would a thick ring 3700 p&c be noticeably more powerful than a 3400 or should i wait and find a thin ring 3700? Ideally waiting for a 4000 p&c and i am in no hurry. Unemployed at the moment so no money going to saws. Thanks again

Well, after picking this 3700 up from my dads shop where it has sat for 15+ years, turns out it is a 4000! And on top of that, he swears it runs great too. It feels like it pulls over the same as my 3400 so we will see what it looks like. And he let me take his “bought brand new” 045av and 031av to clean up as well as a mcculloch pm610 and poulan micro xxv. Woo hoo!

Agreed, very nice saws and a nice 4000. When you're ready for parts like a full handle, or just one side, the Poulan thread is where you want to be. Very cool custom fabricated aluminum handguard as well. You're really going to like running the 4000. The 045 Stihl Dymo labels are awesome to see! Pretty cool vintage vibe if you will. Max.
