Well I really want a 7900 so the wife said I have to sell 2 to get one. I put the Dolmar 111 and the 143 on the bay and now feel regret....

you will miss the 143. I sold mine under similar cercumstances a while back and wish I still had it.

So, after you do this, you'll have a 7900 and a 6401? What's the point of that?
I see no reason to have both a 7900 and a 6401, for I can't think of a single thing the 6401 can do that the 7900 can't do better.

You can always cancel all bids, end the auction early and buy a 7900 top end for the Makita.

How long would it take to get permission to spend $190-200 making a 7900 out of the Makita? Heck, maybe you can put the Makita P&C on eBay for $50-75.
If you were planning on putting the 111 and 143 proceeds plus $200 or more into the 7900, then you've already got $200 cash in the budget.

:agree2: I agree, don't make too much sense to me.

i am with the guys above!

raise the money elsware to buy the 7900 p/c to convert the 6401....
or
sell one of your other dolmars to finance the 7900 p/c.

either way the next step is to relish in the fact that you saved some cabbage over buying the whole 7900 and the satisfaction of doing the conversion/upgrade yourself.

My brother and I usually go cutting together and he likes to use the 6401 for everything so I rarely get to use it. I want the 7900 just for felling, I used to keep a 32" bar on my 6800 but when I got the 143 I put a 24" bar on the 6800 and fell back in love with that saw. I would put a 36" bar on the 7900. I know I will never have a saw with the power of the 143 again but I can not remenber a time when that saw ever even began to slow down in the cut.

yah if that is all it brings at the end of the auction that is what it will be sold for but I will not end the auction early for 300

The auction is almost over looks like someone is going to get a good deal. The high bidder right now is from Germany....

Isn't a 36" bar a little much for a 7900?? It looks like you are out east or in OH, is there need for that big of bar out there?? I mean I know that everyone says the 7900 is a beast, but will it turn a 36" bar buried in hardwood??

Now maybe if you bought the 7900 that a certain AS member has worked over then maybe you would be talking.
