Seems that all these are dimensionally the same, but different part #'s...

Anyone know any noticeable differences running them?, maybe I missing something??!

I can SEE that the 1127 clutch is somewhat different, but dimensionally the same.... Can they be interchanged??

1127 (029) 1125(036), 1128(044). Left to right.

Well I own and run a lot of these saws but will admit I din`t know any specifics about the different clutches, I would guess the shoe weight and spring rate would be some of the difference between them. Usually the heavier the saw the heavier the clutch shoe weight would be, engagement of clutch also governed by the spring rate. If you took some of them apart and weighed the shoes on a very accurate scale that may tell some difference, spring rate would be harder to test out. My saws don`t give much clutch trouble, just a few springs replaced over 15-16 years of running them.

I just took a broken 1128 out of a '98 036Pro but it must be quite confusing because I asked the dealer to get me one 4 days ago and he still can't figure out which one to order. They did upgrade the hub and roller bearing later but don't seem that hard to me. I'll my other 036 Pro later and see what is in int

Same Springs on: 029,039,034,036,290,311,391,360

same carrier: 029, 039, 034, 290,310, 390

same clutch whole: 029,039,034, 290, 310, 390

same shoe: 034, 290,310,390, 311, 391

One must assume that there may have been part changes that don't allow for the variations, but you guys can get your own mediacat.........

Im not sure about the clutch differences but the left cluth needs new springs for sure.

That clutch came out of a 290 with a scored piston within the 1st year of moderate use. It's TIGHT... I will say, I was surprised the springs looked as such, but the shoes are bottomed out on the carrier, and clutch it tight. must be a design difference.

There in lies some of my confusion... I have a clutch from a 044, and a clutch from what-I-thought was a 036 pro, and it's identical... And I have heard the 029-390 clutch fits them all...

036, 360, 361, 362, 044, 046, 440, 441, 460, 461 all use the same clutch.

And I know a 290 and 360 use the same clutch.

Well, there we have something...

so, technically, one COULD use a 029 clutch on a 460.... interesting when it comes to parts swaps. If it fits, it ships, well, works ;)

Obviously, we'd want to make sure there are no clearance and/or interference issues...

Thanks, I have an old 036 here wearing an 1128 clutch. It appears to have never been apart.

Now can someone straighten me out on what clutch drums work on these? The original one I have is a small bearing/ small spline. I have a 290 spur that fits and also has the small bearing,

I have heard of the upgraded drum with the larger bearing for the 036. Can I just throw on a 361/440/460 drum and go?

From what i've seen, yes. ALL the clutches, and all the drums fit the 044 crank I have here... of course, you'd need the correct bearing... :D

the spring set on left looks to be about 5 coils
and about 8 coils in the other two sets.
left set looks to be larger diameter too.

tough to say about the gauge of the wire, my eyes aint that good from here.

039 clutch won't fit a 036 pro, the 039 clutch I have is just like the one in original post on the far left, it won't let the drum catch the worm gear, tried both drums and still won't work. The 1127 has a raise edge on the face of the shoe near the edge were the 036 is minimal when compared and I believe that's the difference
