Had to pick up some parts for the 372XP and the local Stihl dealer is on the way.

It is an Ace Hardware so they are not just a chain saw shop but they are nice people and I know the owner well.

The owner was not in, but a very young guy was there and eager to help.

I stopped to look at a 362 if you have one.

You mean a 360?

No a 362. It is a new model.

We have a 361.

Yes I know about that one, and all the time I am walking to the display on the other side of the store to see if a 362 is on the rack.

He goes with me.

Sadly, there is no 362. Well, I'll come back later.

He says, we won't have it.

Why?

We are not ordering any more saws.

You are going out of the Sthil business?

No, we just won't order any more until these sell.

Okay, maybe Stihl will send you one when the 361 sells.

Why would they do that?

The 362 is replacing that saw.

The 360 is being replaced?

No the 361 is being replaced. See you later.:)

Over on the Rocket Donkey Re-tail forum he is probably making fun of this crazy customer that was trying to tell him what Stihl is doing.:hmm3grin2orange:

Mr. HE:cool:

According to my rep. they've got a good number of 361's left, and he'd appreciate if we'd stock the 361's until they're gone then start ordering the 362's. I don't mind since the 610$ is much more reasonable compare to 670$ for a 362.

California Stihl has been out of 361's for like a month or more now. We've had the 362 for about that time too.

LOL!!!

The manager of Finnermans Stihl shop in PawPaw, told me the 361 is a strato saw.......Whaddya expect from a Tractor dealer that sells Green Yanmar tractors.

Trade ya!!!LOL!!!

Stay safe!

interestingly enough i called an ace/stihl dealer near me to see if they stocked the ms460, about a year ago.
the young kid on the phone said 'no but we have the 360'.

maybe the sales boys were kin or something?:dizzy:

I hope he's not on commission sales,LOL. Does stihl even offer the 360 anymore I know you can't get one in Canada, Maybe the owner should get the poor kid a product brochure.lol:dizzy:

Two Stihl dealers here (good ones) have told me that they won't be seeing the 362 until the end of the year at the earliest. One of them is ordering saws all the time, so I guess that their distributor doesn't have the 362 yet. Price is still a mystery, although a friend in Ohio told me "close to $700".

Mentioned this in another thread....at the county fair, a local ag equipment dealer had the nice Stihl tent, trailer, lotsa products....never heard of the
362....

:confused::confused:

Not defending the guy at the Ace hardware but unless he reads stuff outside the box, he proabally has not heard of the 362. In the region of Stihl I am in there has not been much talk at all about the 362. I have asked several times on when to expect them and get no answer. We have not recieved anything at all about the 362. As sad as it is, if you come in my shop and ask some of the counter help they might say the same except I think they are well aware that the 360 has been long gone.

I can't believe that Stihl went for this, but one of the bigger local ACE stores just picked up Stihl. Too bad there is a good dealer about 3/4 of a mile away. The old dealer actually knows about saws and OPE. He has a worn old shop, and takes the time to explain things to customers. His rates are fair, and his customers loyal. ACE has neon signs, better location, 75k worth of inventory, and no service dept. Going to ride by there today and ask for a 362 on my way to the real dealer to order some parts. I know he knows what a 362 is. He's not stocking them yet, though.

I went to the Hayden Power Saw Dust Days in Kendallville In. last Saturday and they had two 362's, but had them off to the side of the display. Out in front there was a huge stack of boxed up 361's, 290's and 250's. 70$ mark up on the 362 over the 361. Both felt well balanced with the 20'' bar. If I am not mistaken the 361 came with a case either free or half off. I don't think that deal applied to the 62.
They may start to push them hard around the end of the year to make room for their new 362 so keep your eyes peeled for good deals. JJ

That sounds like dolmar to me. The wife hit a deer and the body shop fpr our auto ins had a dolmar sign on the building. When I asked him about it he said I don't stock anything but I can order them. Yeah! I'd buy from the guy thats pressure washing deer carcus off the front of my wifes mini van.

Most of us dealers are more worried about selling the saws we have available to us instead of selling saws that we will have available a month from now.
