Looking for parts to retrofit a brake on an early 028wb. !
It might be easier/cheaper to find a toasted 028.

Has anybody done that ?
I made an attempt sometime back and found something different on the case on the old version that made it look more complicated then expected so I skipped it.

looking for a 24" .063ga 3/8ths pitch stihl bar,36" 3/8s .063 ga stihl.....have a 30" stihl bar and a complete 026 to trade

Homelite Bandit 33cc UT10901A. Need a coil.

SearsPartsDirect lists the dumb thing (coil) for 85 USD. Yikes!!!!

Whole saw ain't worth $8.50 but we will give it a try anyway.

Stuff to trade.

Carl.

Bump.

Also, all the fasteners/screws that hold on the coil, recoil cover and the top lid.

(only the big chunks were in the cardboard box it came in.)

Yeah the early 028 crankcase was different, and that's why the old brake system wouldn't fit the newer case. They redesigned the case and brake system
and the newer brake system has fewer parts. The old-school brake parts have been NLA from Stihl for years and years.

The brake kit for the early 028's are rare as hens teeth.....It has to be the "non crossing" type brake band......They're out there, but not common!

Do you know the part numbers? I could check my parts stock.

thanks for the tip fellas. I would like to have the right part too. randy duncan has it on fleebay. 19.00 plus shipping seems high, but it is a fairly rare part. Might just do it to have the right part.

This MAY OR MAY NOT WORK, but would a fuel line from a Mac 10-10 be acceptable? It seals in the same way you're describing. They still make them and they are plentiful, if your local saw shop doesn't have one, they can order it and you could have it for $10 or under, unless they're gougers.
