Basicallt he's saying if you fatten it up a little it is less peaky and has a little more torque.
 
Sedanman, Isn't that supposed to say torque across a wider power band? I'm not sure you get more torque. You spread out the power band curve.
 
Do a test, take your 346 set at 14700 rpm's , hook a tack on to the sparkplug wire, do a 12 to 14 inch cut and watch the rpm's in the cut, now do the same thing at 14200 rpm's and see what the difference is in the rpm's in the wood
 
Hey guys. I run a 346 and a 372 in the woods daily. I use the 346 90% of the time. I run it with a 16" with chisel chain. It is actually faster to walk around a big pine with it than to push thru with my 372! It's a GREAT saw!
