I don't plan to run a 20" on it, if I need that I can use my farm boss. I am going to sell that saw though, to help pay for that 550xp.

Of the four saws I have owned, one was a 445, and now I run a 550XP. I run the $hit out of any saw I have; the 445 held up MUCH better than the Craftsman and Poulan I had before the Husky. It cut what I needed cut and didn't complain. It was a very durable and hardworking saw or $200 delivered. I'm glad I bought it.

I'm even more glad I sold it to buy a 550 though, that is one serious little rig! If you have a 445, you will be perfectly used to the size and balance of the saw...I couldn't really see any difference. I use my saw every day cutting firewood, it's how we heat the house. I love using my saw so much that it has become my splitting device. You have never seen prettier (or easier stacking) firewood. My next move will be to advertise free downed tree removal in my community to have more wood to cut. If I had more than one saw I would run the $hit out of that too!!

Although there are some fairly weird people here:jester: I've gotten a ton of good advice. I got the right saw for me, and I know how to keep it SHARP and cuttin excellent. Thanks!

Just got a 445 for 190 shipped, can't wait for that to show up.

My 445 has been a real gem, and I never expected it to have much power, but it really isn't bad for the weight/money. Mine will not pull an 18 thru anything hard with any authority, much less a 20. With a 16 it is a nice limbing/clearing/small firewood saw. I keep thinking I'm gonna convert mine to the rim sprocket but haven't gotten around to it.
Enjoy yours!

Kinda like waiting to buy a gun until you actually need it.

Then it's too late, if you wait, there will no doubt be thousands of others "needing" one too.

Like after a storm!

I dont need a big saw because my saw does everything i need it to do.
The only reason I am getting a 70cc+ saw is for milling and right now i dont need it so I am gonna have to disagree with you on that. I think the gun comparison was way off as well but thats just me.:msp_biggrin:

If we have an Ice storm, you'll know where to find a few BIG saws...
Since I can't use more than 2 at a time and have...
Well....
A few more than that...

Those trees got real close to not existing a year and a half ago! That's pretty close to where the freaking air blender started...

Yea lucky for us it was not very close to our house. I don't know if you have ever heard of the old KKK cave in joplin but its right down the hill from me. Its only about 300 ft from my house to turkey creek.

got some shelf queens, some are display only, with a history- usually a fellow fallers saw, some are rebuilt, some are new in the box waiting their turn in the woods

i run saws to fill my contracts, unless i am cruising timber or planting trees, or sawing lumber

i do play the piano, and there are saws displayed near it

my favorite saw is a shelf queen- my grandpa's crosscut saw, it does not run but it still cuts

Wait till the EAB gets there.

If you have any Ash they will be goners.

Don;t want to be repetitive, since some of y'alls have seen this pic b4, but given the OP's request...

While it's new I'm trying to keep it clean. But if it's like everything else, those crevices will get grungy in a hurry.

I retired a toothbrush from active tooth cleaning duty and reassigned it to saw crevice-cleaning duty this weekend, (can't use same tooth brushes I use on the bikes because those are really grungy and greasy, with road dirt mixed in)

Got some more cutting and splitting to do Saturday, as we have a whole week of good sunny drying weather coming up (except Sunday with flurries)

I would rather be cutting than anything else, I simply have not had much time to put my interest in front of family, kids, and responsibility. The remodeling will eventually get done and most of my responsibilities towards my parents and grandmother wont get under way for 2013 until spring. I had hoped to cut over Christmas break but it rained and rained and rained. I did manage to bring this home before the rain.

Some help...probably not needed, but an air compressor and then a rag and your toothbrush with straight super clean in the purple jug works wonders keeping stihls looking good.

:msp_thumbsup: on the saw!

Oh and yea I use my saws, maybe a little more than half the time I'm using them I'm getting paid to use them too which is my favorite. At the farm I work at I use them to cut firewood, buck logs that we're cutting on the sawmill, and felling trees whilst we're clearing land. I got offered $100 to fell block and stack a tree at a guys lakefront house in monticello, ny, planning on doing that this weekend, maybe next the guy is in no rush...my neighbor gave me a liter of old time 86 proof jack d for taking care of some storm damaged trees for him, said he wanted to give me money too but I refused I said Jack D is good for me. Anyways, the only saw that isn't being used of mine right now is a 360 quick stop I got from work the quick stop garbage is broken on it. Been setting for years upon years in the company graveyard.

I don't run 'em unless it is Tuesday, Saturday, in between those two days or Winter unless it is a day on or a day off. Otherwise I'll run a chainsaw any time I get the chance.

If'n I never run mine then how is this 36" DBH Post Oak gonna get on the ground this weekend?

Well, it is down and measured 41" at the stump. I used the S25 for a little climbing, PP 655 for falling and some blocking, PP 505 blocking, JRed 2171 blocking, PP 330 limbing. It was a successful day because the tree went against the lean ( with the help of 3/8 cable and John Deere 8840) the only casualty was 114 drive lengths of 3/8 chain because of a nail.

Clean as new -- never run ;) Well it is only a month or so old...
(About to get a visit from the toothbrush -- more or less after every use)
