Somebody may have answered this already, but please forgive me for I am new to this site. My question is "Will a Jonsered 2171 piston ring fit a Jonsered 70 E? I know both pistons are 50mm, but what about the 1.2mm thickness? Thanks.

503-2890-42 single ring piston 2171 Jonsered/371 Husky is 50mm x 1.5.
Shep
2171 and 371 are different saws. I don't know if the rings are the same, but the 2171 is a 372 not a 371.
So just to clarify, a Jonsered 2171, Husqvarna 268, and a Husqvarna 371 piston ring will fit a Jonsered 70 E? Thanks.
No the Jack.....I believe what has been said here is the newer series 2171 is the same as the 372 with a 1.2MM thick X 50MM ring.....the older series 2071, 371 and 268 all have the same ring as the 70E which is a 1.5MM thick X 50MM ring.....

NO! Not the 2171.
670, 2071, 371XP, 268XP, 266XP, which were all single ring pistons, take the same ring as the 70E.
2171 and 372 are 2 ring piston models and they take the thinner ring which cannot be used in the 70E.

It isn't really about the model (among those), but about if it is the EPA version or not. Non EPA saws came with a single 1.5 mm ring.
The EPA versions appeared before the 372 replaced the 371.
I can believe that too!!! So what you're saying is they made an EPA 371 with two 1.2mm rings......sigh....it's never clear cut....in this family...
