Thinking about having a Indiana gtg late October "MAYBE" any interest?

I'm sure Bigrod and I would both make it, it's only an hour and a halfish from here. Subscribed :msp_thumbup:

    sthil 066

+1 To the OP, I'm guessing you're trying to determine whether it is a 064 or 066? If so, start with flywheel. If it's poly - 066. If it's metal, could be 064 or older 066. If so, pull clutch cover. Remove underlying cover to view and you should be able to see oiler assembly behind the...

    Oregon Grinder

I couldn't agree more. A.S. member Bigrod has one of the Oregon #108181 grinders that I've used a lot the past few months. It gets the job done, I can vouch for that. While I don't especially care for the vice (either too tight or too loose), it seems to hold well enough to accurately...

    064 Oiler Hose Replacement

Does anyone have a Stihl 064 oiler handy? The output hose on mine had hardened and kinked at the bend where it enters the bar passageway reducing flow. I just need an ID measurement of the hose and wall thickness so I can procure a replacement while here at work :msp_rolleyes:. Thanks in advance

    What was your 1st chainsaw?

First saw I bought was a Stihl 051AVE. Great starter saw, over 160 psi cold and no decomp, along with the starter rope that was 8 inches too short

    What's on your workbench4/7/12

Now that's something to hang your hat on, congrats to you both  That's something he'll remember forever, kudos to you for sharing a great sport with your son. It's not very often anymore that you hear something that actually makes you feel hopeful for future generations of this country...

    What's on your workbench4/7/12

Really dig the A5, Belgian made? I've got a Remington made Browning A5 from during WW2 and I love that old girl. Fit and finish isn't nearly as nice as the Belgians but it's not quite as common so it's a fair trade off I guess. That's a nice looking 1897 as well, I'd love to have the riot...

New (to me) Stihl 028 Super

First off, congrats on a great saw purchase! (need pics :smile2:) FWIW, I run 18" .325 .063 full chisel on mine and it pulls great in hardwood. Mine is bone stock (for now anyway). It's cut around 12 cord of mostly oak since Novemeber with help from the 066 with no problems whatsoever...

    Stihl 038 AVS ignition Question

Bolt Holes My guess for the bolt holes would be mounting holes for a generator (if) the saw was equipped with heated handle bars. This was optional equipment for the 038 saws. If I'm wrong, someone correct me here :msp_unsure: Congrats on owning a great saw! I've got 2 Supers that are...

    Leaded Fuel?

I didn't any need either on a two stroke engine as far as valves, I guess the more appropriate question would be in relation to performance between leaded vs. unleaded fuel. I didn't know how differently a two cycle engine would behave between the different fuel types. Not really a matter of...

    Leaded Fuel?

Does anyone still use leaded fuel in their vintage saws? Or use additives in unleaded fuel for the old girls? I've seen several threads lately relating to fuel/fuel mixes and it just got me wondering.

    String trimmer choices

I have an Echo SRM 265T and love it. 25.4cc and 13.1 lbs. It has the high torque head and I haven't bogged it down yet, even trimming ditches. You can also run a blade on it so I really like that versatility.
