i had a o29 super that bit the big one like that a few years back. it was OEM stihl too.
had there been cheap chi-com parts i might have fixed it. i think i gave it away because i got a deal on a ms440!
i say it is time to move up to a "pro" saw like a 044/ms440!!
i built a ms440 last year out of el-cheapo china parts . it was very easy to do. sort of fun to work on. and it runs like a scalded ape--
don't know how long it will last-- but so far its looking good.
i'm about to finish up a chi-com 372XP --which has been interesting so far.
in a smaller saw the 026 sure looks tempting to do--
