Yeah, it is a real nice saw. Mine had been sittin for about 4 months before today so it was really just startin to wake up on the third cut (upcut), but it is a very powerful saw and has a similar feel to a stihl 075, but a bit lighter.

Wait till you guys see the 3100G in action. This one has 165psi and I got a line on a 5' log to use for test cuts with the 60" bar i'm gonna put on this beast. YeeeeeeHaaaaaawwwww!

Yup, it's gonna be wild. I'm gonna make sure my cleats are strapped on tight before I hook that big ox to wood. Sleep tight though i'll be sure to get it on here as quick as possible.

Nothing a 137cc 090G won't out pull. Not many, I know legitimately exist. However, albeit a close run, no way.

The 090 is a137cc piston port motor and the 3100G is a 114cc reed valve (6 of em) motor. In that contest I think that the chain and gear ratios would be the most decisive factors. The governed 090 motor runs about 6500-7500 under load and the 2100/3100 turns 8500-9200 if i'm not mistaken. It's a tough call and i'd have to see them side by side to know for sure. My experience with the direct drives is thet the 090 pulls strong and is bigger, but I think that the 2100 is more of a hotrod. Also 7hp for a 3100 or a 2100 is a pretty fair underestimate in my opinion. I mean a 660 is 7hp and they are not in the same ball park powerwise despite the 660's considerably higher chain speed.

Did the G come standard with the 137cc motor? If not there are a few that would be able to pull with or out pull a 090G, some of them are Homelites. 090 s are fine big saws, but not the extravagantly overpowered unit that some think it is.

No, not as a standard. No clear cut evidence if they ever left the factory that way, sanctioned dealer upgrade or swapped P&C by their owners. I'm not any expert by any stretch of the imagination and should have made that clear in my earlier post. In my experiences I've not seen one beat lugging long chains in big oak. Too many variables between particular saws, operators and woods to substantiate my earlier statement.

I agree. The 153 and especially the 166 have a nice dirt bike sound. The echo 100 has a great idle too, but not quite as mean as the dolmars.

It's true there are a ton of variables. I will say this though, I have an 090G with the big top end (and very healthy compression) on it and before i screwed up the rakers on the chain of my 990G Homie it would hang comfortably with the 090. Alsoit is my experience is that the 2100/3100 series is a fair power upgrade over the already strong 900/990/995 series. I also have no scientific evidence, except for my experience using them and the more aggressive specs of the engines.
