Saras venison tacos get my vote. Or her no bean chilli she brought to Interfaith was exilent too. Spent a couple days up in Rollag MN at the WMSTR show. Not chainsaw related but any one that enjoys really awesome old engines and tractors this show is a must to attand someday. Thanks for the pm. Looking forward to the gtg.

I will bring a few small 'door prizes' if I can make it (mostly hinges, latches, old keys, etc. . . ).

The gtg is the weekend of September 22-23. Anyone is welcome (encouraged, even) to come on Friday and stay till Sunday.
Anyone who's ever met us probably knows 2 things about us: we like to have fun, and we don't go hungry.
Here's how I envision the agenda for the weekend:

Friday, Sept 21
sometime after 6pm: For those that arrive early, we'll play it by ear, but we'll have some kind of delicious dinner that there's only enough of to serve the early-birds.
sometime after dark: Perhaps a campfire with s'mores or whatever fire generated treats
Saturday, Sept 22
around 7am: Bacon.
around 10am: snacks, such as sweet rolls
around noon: open grazing available...lunch of some kind (My mother has indicated some sort of obnoxiously delicious home-made dessert will be part of the deal)
around 3 pm: snacks, such as cookies
around 6 pm: venison related dinner dish
sometime after dark: Perhaps a campfire with s'mores or whatever fire generated treats
Sunday, Sept 23
around 7am: Bacon.
if you're still here after the bacon is gone, we'll be sure to get ya whatever nourishment is needed to keep you sustained for your journey home.

Oh- I have one small problem... If you drink coffee, you're SOL. We don't even own a coffee maker. I'll see if my mom's got a larger capacity brewer I can borrow for the weekend...
 
Never been in either one of em, but there is also a Budget Host in North branch - it's within a couple blocks of the Americinn, and their standard 1 bed room runs $69. The standard room @ Americinn they quoted me was $99- but had 2 Queen beds... So I guess make your selections if you're not camping...

Both are 6.4 miles and 10-12 minutes drive from our house.

Also thought I'd throw this one back out there... For those of you looking for a more cost effective way to stay, we also have a nice, flat yard for camping if you're interested in tenting it (we got lots of blankets), plus we have a 30' RV that a few folks could stay in if they wish- we can fire up the AC or heat depending on the weather.

I got a couple spare coffee makers I can bring I think each can make 12 cups if you dont find one bigger just let me know
 
I just got in. I read Sarahs post and saw no mention of pie...There is still going to be pie isn't there? If not I may not be able to make it. As far as the sawing agenda, I have about 25 cords of red oak log that I expect to be cut, split, and stacked by the end of this thing. Dont go thinking I am just a nice guy wanting to feed you all.





AHHHH!!! Just kidding....Its actually 30 cords.

We will be there Saturday for sure. And someone better have some coffee. The day just don't go right without it! Bacon done curing.... Getting smoked tomorrow.
 
Being the noob ... I just want to confirm my assumption that this is a family friendly event, yes?

For me, family = wife and 2 boys ages 6 & 9 (sorry, Sarah, Dad lives to far away for a day trip with chainsaw geeks).

Yup, feel free to bring the family. We dont have any kids but there may be others around. I might as well say it now, feel free to bring along some beers or whatever you would like to drink but please repect us when we ask you dont partake untill after the sawing is done. We want everyone to have a good time but above all we want everyone to be safe.
