That Grin doesn`t know how to post pics yet here is forgivable. But nmurph, that spent 4 hours with his new coosy friend :D, didn't make pictures sure sounds like sacriledge! OOOHHHH I think he might be banned for this unforgivable behavior! Let's ban him for at least

5min! I mean he knows the rules. I can just imagine him sitting inside in the warm house, waving through the window to this old chap struggeling with the saws.

We want pictures! We want pictures! We want pictures! We want pictures! We want pictures! We want pictures! We want pictures!

I couldn't keep up with the thread...

You gys are having too much fun! I've been sick the past couple of days and can't click fast enough to keep up with your posts!!!

I run a 290 which has been fine for the work I do, keeping chains sharp is the hardest part. When I need another saw, I'll look after that 262...

Semper Fi Jarheads!

My friend, I think I overdid it yesterday. I am running a fever today, not what you want after having nasal surgery. I walked out to the shop one time just to make sure the BS372 and MM046 were still there.

Did you ever get the grin off of your face after running them??

YOU...overdid it ??!!...... How can that be when I cranked and ran all the saws....
I'm sore all over....I think it's those 2 big saws that did it to me....
Another day like that and I'll sell ALL my saws !!
BTW....I'll give you $37.20 for that 372....

Bob....read faster !!
MSgt? ....is that just below Lance Corporal?
I was E5 Sgt...
How do you like that 290? I'd like to find a used one and have it converted to a 390...
.....OMG....CAD!!:bang:

Semper Fi Leatherneck !

Now, he just needs to learn to do this: :hmm3grin2orange:

.......MS 362??

The 290 will do everything I need.....but weighs 13 lbs!!
The 362 is also 13lbs, but more modern technology, and stronger, BUT $300 more money!!!
No doubt the 362 is the choice, and I can afford either.....But I'd like to justify the extra $300 cost.
I'm 66 years young and cut a lot of downed Oaks and Pine...(read clean up)..
If I'm gonna use a 13lb saw, I would like the most power....but again, $300 extra !!??
I live on 25 acres, but only clean up about 8 to 9 acres....but many trees are Live Oak and Water Oak.

Can I really justify the $700 vs $400 cost? Or is the Farm Boss 290 the best buy for me?

Note: I've been using chain saws all my life and keep them a long time....see my Super XL post....
I've been doing this clean up for 40 + years with the Super XL Automatic and later added a Husky 51....
both are still working.....but getting old.

Is the 362 REALLY worth almost twice the cost of the 290 ?......IF so, WHY??

Thanks Y'All,
Andy

So, What is your real name??????

Do people actually crank these things and cut with them ??
.......I thought you just bought them and looked at 'em....You know, like the Harley drivers....:D

Careful there buddy...................

I will let you sniff it for $37.20 .

Big saws....hahaha...just wait until you hear the 125 fire off. It will literally jerk you into the tree. You will need an extra dose of Geritol or Midol...your choice.

Enjoyed the day!

Grin or Andy...

With the anonimity of the internet, I don't know what to call you....

I am mainly a stumper, but will cut trees when needed. That being said, I made my first grand or so this past year with the 290, and that paid for an upgrade in stumpin' machines for me. Saws are a heck of a lot cheaper than grinders, no matter the color.

During my day job, I turn wrenches on big trucks. A small engine is a small engine, but the 290 is waaay easier to take care of than the old Stump Kutter saw I started with. I really like the tunability and ease of maintenance with my 290. It has enough poop with a sharp chain to really kick some azz with an 18" bar. I did see some muffler mod info to get me itchin' to break out my die grinder though...

A MSgt is just a LCpl with a couple of years under his belt, didn't you realize that?

Semper Fi!

Andy Grinstead....aka Grits....
I'm called a lot of things.....Usually starts with an A... and ends with Hole...but Grits is very common.

Yes, We had fun playing in the Dirt.....just kids with toys. I played, got dirty, cut his firewood for him, and got very tired....He watched, rested, was entertained, and charged me for it.....
I have a 51 which is similar to the 346......But I WANT a ported 372..(I think I'm coming down with a case of CAD sickness)....
Is there an antibiotic or treatment to fight CAD....?? Without a cure, Murph is gonna have my kids inheritance.

.....What's a rep? And have you been a bad boy so you can't give these out? If it's as bad as CAD, I don't need it....
.......are Reps an awful contagious disease like CAD?

If someone would be kind enough to kick me off this site.....maybe I'd be able to fight off this "C" disease Y'All are infected with and spreading around...

I would post a photo.....but all you have to do is imagine a big mass of scrap metal, bailing wire, and duct tape....with a muffler mod somewhere hidden
down in there...... and a slight compression increase.....
It did manage to finally "rub" it's way through a small piece of rotten wood about the size of your wrist!!...took a while though!!

Everyone needs a ported 372...
Now you know why...
Just be glad he didn't let you run the 7900...
Or you'd be sitting in the corner thumbing yer lip....

I have the MS290 and it's a great saw. If that is your budget then you can't beat it, my opinion. However, if you are considering spending 700, then go with the J-Red 2171. A 13lb saw with 71cc vs what Stihl has, which is either less power or more weight for that amount of money. Again, my opinion. I like both, but the power to weight ratio is what sold me on the J-red. Anyone that I let run my saw can't believe how B.A. it is. I'm looking to mod the muffler on both now, but can't find anyone to do it. You might want to consider that as well.
