I havnt checked baileys to see if they have the piston specs on this saw.Yep. That's the thoughts. Not many pistons in that size though.

Your correct the cases are notched for piston clearance. That's why the make grinders.IIRC, there is very little clearance at bottom dead center between the case and piston
No actually I have this one at .018. It come out a tad tighter than what I measured when cutting it. But that's ok. I'll pull a comp check tomorrow see what where putting out.Squish .024 on both saws?
Thats why I love your threads ............ both saws done differently and the videos for us to see !No actually I have this one at .018. It come out a tad tighter than what I measured when cutting it. But that's ok. I'll pull a comp check tomorrow see what where putting out.

Great job Carl ........... #2 is angry !!
Curious to see what happens to #1 when you just get the same timing as #2.
PS .......... my 661 has been fine running with a tighter squish
WTF?
I guess the rules don't alway apply. That's tight.
Carl, it's gonna be interesting to see the compression difference between the two saws. Were they run for the same amount so that ring breakin differences can be discounted?
I like the tighter squish, I use to shoot for 020, now I'd rather run 16-18.Tighter the better if everything is nice and true you can do that. I ran a 372 for a little while at .012" no damage and higher compression. I did get it back to .019" when I sold it.,
I can tell you saw#2 has been run more than saw #1 how much more idk. @fin460 maybe able to answer that.WTF?

Not too sure about that, I have been seeing tighter squish, yes .............. but I am seeing higher compression. There was just a thread where some "grass roots" builders were posting gauge readings over 235# on larger displacement sawsWhy do you like it.
I see a trend towards tighter squish and lower compression amongst the builders here.
It depends on the saw imo. I can tell you from my testing the 7910 dolmar likes compression. The 441cm not as much. Not too sure about that, I have been seeing tighter squish, yes .............. but I am seeing higher compression. That is a 28" bar buried. It will not reach all the way threw that peice of oak.
It does for a 28" 8 rim. Lol. We will see how it likes a 36"No. 2 sounds really nice. It looks as though it has a lot of torque as well.
