No actually I have this one at .018. It come out a tad tighter than what I measured when cutting it. But that's ok. I'll pull a comp check tomorrow see what where putting out. :)
Thats why I love your threads ............ both saws done differently and the videos for us to see !
Great job Carl ........... #2 is angry !!
Curious to see what happens to #1 when you just get the same timing as #2.

PS .......... my 661 has been fine running with a tighter squish

WTF?

I guess the rules don't alway apply. That's tight.

Carl, it's gonna be interesting to see the compression difference between the two saws. Were they run for the same amount so that ring breakin differences can be discounted?

I consulted with a "very trusted source" ................. it was just about a crapshoot, but some 066's did come with .016 from the factory

These 661's take several tanks to wake up to their surroundings after work is done ............... they keep getting stronger after each tank

Tighter the better if everything is nice and true you can do that. I ran a 372 for a little while at .012" no damage and higher compression. I did get it back to .019" when I sold it.,
I like the tighter squish, I use to shoot for 020, now I'd rather run 16-18.
I've heard of some guys running .015 on 880's

I can tell you saw#2 has been run more than saw #1 how much more idk. @fin460 maybe able to answer that.

Saw #1 has 185 comp
Saw#2 has 190 comp

Both saws will raise a tad as running especially saw #2 as it has made a total of 4 cuts. Saw #1 has been ran a little more.

Why do you like it.

I see a trend towards tighter squish and lower compression amongst the builders here.
Not too sure about that, I have been seeing tighter squish, yes .............. but I am seeing higher compression. There was just a thread where some "grass roots" builders were posting gauge readings over 235# on larger displacement saws

It depends on the saw imo. I can tell you from my testing the 7910 dolmar likes compression. The 441cm not as much.

How about this weather Carl, I need to go cut wood, but I don't want one of my creamcicles to become an icicle
