I use to have a 562XP. Is a very good saw. Never give me any problem. But I sold it because of the bad reputation some peoples have. I'm not sorry for it
Now I have the Makita 6421 and is the best change I ever did. Very good and strong saw. But is up to you what you wish for. This is my story, my experience with this two saws.
Again, I own that 562XP for over two years cut 25-30 cords of wood and never give me any problems.

I watched this vid- . I like the idea of the saw running cooler with a muffler mod, but without having the software for the autotune how well do we really know whats going on.

A few guys hooked up a saw after porting and it was supplying something like 95% of available fuel. So not only did it compensate, it had extra fuel available. All reports say these saws run better in every way with a MM and even porting.

I see no benefit to running .325 on a saw this size. 3/8 with a 20" is a sweet combo.

I do like the makita 6100, and most likely over time I will pick one up, Im going to give the 562 a try first, if it turns out to be a good saw for me then Ill have to save and wait to try and get a 6100, if the 562 gives me problems Ill just sell it off for a 6100. About the muffler mod. I was thinking to myself about my old 91 eagle talon I had, just for example, I put full exhaust on that car and high flow air filter and never had to change out the fuel injectors, I never turned the boost way up, but anyhow got me thinking that the 562 should work in the same manner? Where the just by opening up the muffler it will not max out the autotune. Even after porting and muffler modding the stock autotune system can still provide sufficient fuel? I definitely dont want to dive right in on this saw, would like take my time with it and get a feel for how it runs first, but if I do decide to open up the muffler, how did you guys go about doin it on yours?

Ive thought about the 2260, I just prefer the orange. Take a look at this bar an chain I got today, the chain doesnt look like it fits correctlyCIMG6587.JPG . The bar is cannon, CSM-H1-18-50, chain is stihl 3/8 picco

I bought a laser bar and the tip was junk. After about two or three tanks of fuel the tip was chipped and broken too on bottom and top on both sides. I put an Oregon tip on and now it's great. 10 tanks of fuel and the bar still doesn't need dressed.

Sorry for the thread derail

I've never had a problem with my 562 but it's been muffler modded since I've owned it. Also none of the 562's I've ported for people have had any problems with hot starting. All were EL-48 carbs with more recent firmware. I had a terrible hot start problem with my T540, but the latest firmware fixed that.

The 562 is a pretty powerful saw stock but a muffler mod really wakes them up. I feel that porting doesn't get you a whole lot more for the effort that goes into it.

I agree, .325 would neuter these saws. They don't like to be run near the rev limiter, they need to be loaded hard with 3/8's chain for chip clearance. I run 3/8's on a 20", a friend runs a 28" with half skip on his ported one when he needs a longer bar.

I run a 20" bar with 3/8 chisel on my 562. it's been muffler modded and I've never had a hot start problem. it eats fresh oak like my lesser saws have eaten pine! you will enjoy that saw!

Hey guys I got the 562 today. It is a 2016 model so that is good. Thanks for suggesting a new tip for the bar, I will be ordering one here shortly. I have a oregon 18" 3/8 .058 bar an chain coming for it, but I really want to try out this 3/8 picco. I tried out narrow kerf on my 359 and really liked how it cut, just having fun cutting firewood out behind my garage. For cutting bigger stuff I will run standard 3/8. Well any words of advice, I havent even put gas or oil in er yet.
