Ok, maybe I don't NEED 20 different models of Stihl, but I sure do want 'em! On the other hand, I'm going to have to pare down the collection a bit (at least if I want to remain married). So, I think I can keep the Long-Haired General happy if I get rid of part of my collection (non-Stihl) and focus on the Stihl.

Given that, I'm trying to fill a few holes in my modest Stihl collection, some for collecting and some for using. I prefer pro saws, and I'm somewhat interested in having one from each major family of pro saws.

As you can see in my signature, I have the following:

BLK57
07
08
S10
020 Super
020T
028 Super
038 Magnum
041
045
048
066
075/076
084
Contra (106 cc)
Contra S (137 cc)
090

What I think I "need" -
BL
024 or 026? Wondering if I need something in between 020 and 028 Super.
036
044 10mm
056 Magnum

Did I miss anything? Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Scott

064 is a must... as well as a 046. Hard to trim it down to 20

Thought about the 064 but I already have a nice 066, so that scratches the 1122 series itch.

And while the 046 is more powerful than the 044, I like the idea of the lighter 044, especially since I have a few good options for heavier and more powerful saws.

Thanks

I don't collect saws I use saws so 044, 046, 064, 066 would all be in there. It is a bit redundant if you're collecting and wanting to broaden your arsenal.

A real collector won't stop until he's got everything so what does the order matter? (Sarcasm)

I use 'em, too. Just haven't had much of anything to cut since I've been in Europe.

Anyway, I know I can't go wrong with the ones that you listed, but I'm hesitant to get one of each. If you take that to the extreme, I would end up with every variation (AV, non-AV, full wrap, 3/4 wrap, points, and electronic ignition, etc) of each and every saw.

Thanks

I only get what I like to run for everything. I tried saws that were smaller for one industry but then I have to give them away to a nice home when I don't go back or there's the fear of just becoming a Zoo Keeper. There is a lot of responsibility that goes with them.
They need a lot of attention. I just can't keep them caged.

HT133 x 1

MS200T x 2

026/260/MS261 x 2

MS361 x 2

MS461 x 2

066/MS660/661 x 2

I’m not sure what you’ll do with the other 9.

I look at that and think why would you need a 361. That's that odd size in the middle where that saw by it self is good for a lot but with bigger and smaller saws it seems like it would never get used. Just my 2 cents.

Then Take it out.

It’s Nice as a trim Saw when working with a chipper.

I can see that. I'd go for more variety myself if I was a collector.

I'd definitely get an 026. That saw clouds so many for me. The top handles are good if you climb or plain want one. 026 is as light as a saw needs to be and plenty powerful in that class. Personally I think it's powerful enough and light enough a porky 60cc just doesn't make sense. Not when an 044 or 460 with a 20 inch bar is so easy to handle and has way more power.

when my brother was convincing me to get into handgun shooting I had it down to a list about five to consider. I asked the old guy in our shop who is a police reserve marksman which one I should buy. He grumbled a while and then said it don't matter you're gonna buy em all anyway it's just in what order.
he was right.

You have really short legs, don’t you.
