Checked compression and pulled the muffler this morning. Still cleaning it up as much is practical--not wanting to spend too much time on it. Ordered a factory bar that was unused off EBay for $22, and I already have a spare chain for it. Will order tensioner and new sprocket later. What's the best place to order Echo parts (I don't have dealer close by)?

Well, here she is all cleaned up as much as she's gonna be. Chain tensioner fixed, bar straightened, and a new chain. I've got $198 bucks into it as it sits including the new chain tensioner and chain. Think I'm gonna use it for cutting stumps and noodling a crap ton of sweet gum rounds I have piled up. 20-ton splitter won't even put a dent in 'em.

Last pic is next to my other 590 that I baby. Can't say enough thanks for everything I've learned on this forum. Thanks guys. [emoji481]

You can find the upgraded mag clutch cover on eBay.. I saw one there recently (It;s what the 620P uses, 600P is plastic like you have). The bar nuts are actually correct for a 590. IDK why echo used them, maybe .02 cheaper than the large Stihl style ones my 600P came with.
While I'm amazed at Niko's mellowing about the Echo, I will say that my 272XP has just as much plastic on it as my 600P, with the exception of the clutch cover. If I spring for the $30 or so to upgrade the echo, it'd be about the same IMO.
You can find the outer bucking spike on eBay as well.
I think you came out smelling like a rose on this deal.
Couple small upgrades, and you have an early 600P. Later ones like mine have the aluminum handle.
Suck-worthy score for sure!

Picked up the saw today.. It is dirty as all get out, but it looks like it will clean up well. Started on the first pull, and nothing is broken. Just the usual scratches and nicks in the plastic from use. The original bar has been replaced with an Oregon bar, as he said they accidentally bent the factory bar the first day he used it.

I wasn't expecting to meet the guy today, so I didn't have my compression gauge or a T 27 driver to pull the muffler, so I went ahead and took a gamble that it's got good compression and the piston looks good.

The guy said he bought it at Home Depot, and he still had the original box and accessories.

Pictures to follow. Hopefully I can get a chance to go over everything real well tonight.
mine is a good machine................... i only made one cut with mine before i got it ported :p

The 590 is the Best saw per dollar in the industry period. There's not even anything close. Face it Echo bashers. Echo has proven in recent years it is a force to be recon with in the chainsaw division.

For the dollar , it's the importer.
Here in europe there to expensive :(
Retail 929€ thats 984 dollars , cheapest online 729€
In a good shop you find for 829€ a 372 xtorq with 4 chaines free.
A 550xp in the stores is around 660€
A pity would buy Echo when they where the same price as in the states......
