Stihl has maintained since the mid 80's that running more oil than in 50:1 will increase carbon and reduce life. They had no reason to say this other than for engine life. Heck, they'd sell more oil at 40:1.

Funny thing is.. most other major manfs say to use the same 50:1 ratio.

Unless you use a competitor's oil. ie., Dolmar says use all other oils at 40:1.
 
Try running 90wt. gear oil at 16 to1 Be sure to use high octane gas, though.

90 wt? Heck no! High octane gas too? No way!

I run my saws on wheel bearing grease! Just dissolve a tube of grease in a gallon of E-85.

Ethanol all the way, baby!

Another oil thread well on it's way to 100 posts. Tell about over complicating something simple.
 
Certainly not. If they were I'd be well on my way to being an Oil Baron.

Not enough room in a small town for too many and I hear they get a bit protective over their turf.
