I wouldn't use bar oil on the hay bailer, John Deere makes a spray chain oil that lubes chains and keeps mass amounts of debris from getting on your chain.

I had always used motor oil and a thumb pump can but now I would use canola oil from Costco. I oil the chains when ever I stop moving.
