wow it worked. that is my massey ferguson 220. old and tired but still works. i was cutting standing dead lodgepole above the city of aspen.

What happens to the sticks? Is there a mill in the area? It seems like those might make nice timber for building. do they taper much?

some of that lodgepole was very nice stuff. the mill all of that went to was mine. i only got a little over 2 loads. all standing dead, all dry. i cut one tree that was 16" at the butt, at 45' it was still 12", at 85' it was just under 5". some of the trees, about 25% had less than 1" taper per 10'. some were just plain sawlogs, and some were great house logs.
