I have found a brand new old stock for a 5000 for $35,,is it worth it or should i keep looking ?
whas TOLD for a 5000,,what if only for a 500 ??

Ron, you will need the 5000 lower handle brace and rear antivibe mount to be able to use the 5000 handle on your 500.

Will bring the saw with me..make sure whatever it is will work..'

he may have everything needed..
tnx for the advice..
do you think it's worth $35 for a good running "beater" ?? saw has 165lbs and great spark.. cosmetically not great but acceptable..
tnx..

Well, Del, I really want to hang on to it! I had every intention on useing it till the seller of the saw I bought come up with the 5000 setup for me and I think its a much sturdier setup that way.

I still want to keep it for a spare for my 490 or who knows if I might find another saw that needs it.

Actually I know where their is a 500 for sale, good runner, it has a kind of beat up bar, nice top cover, maybe $100 to $150

Nice clean looking saw Ron, I didn't want to start doing any mods to my 5000 until I get it running and talk to you Mark and C4F. Should I lose the perforated sheild inside the muffler or just drill them larger?
John

If the muffler outlet isn't too large (actually is theoretically possible, but not likely - LOL), I suggest you just "loose" that shield. :)

John, here is my 5000 with the 246 piston, port work and 026 carb. Works good. Getting more work over the winter.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3etDvwcsvE Has a 21BP chain here. Faster with a 3/8 chain.

I will get a pic of my muffler up.

Looking good, is the 246 piston taller? was there much porting involved and was the 026 carb just a bolt on affair?
Thanks,
John

The 246 is the same height pin to crown, wider at the skirts and has shorter skirts. Ported it myself, safe woodsport. Carb is a bolt on but the impulse pipe needs to be blocked on the carb and a new hole drilled for impulse. 044 carb going on next.

Just got back from a small fair with a saw competition. 5000 took 1st.

Thanks a bunch Mike, guess i'll have to go over it again. :censored: i hate being stupid.......

No, i downloaded the image resizer for windows. I still don't know what i :censored: up. It seems to be a common problem, but IDK much about computers..

Is the pp 325 the same as the 5000+ or are there differences? Acres site says there the same.

Well not really. It is actually a Partner 540. There 52cc and have a different air filter and choke setup on them. The PP325 is really the best of the bunch to me.

I love Acres, I really do but there are mistakes there which is fine but then they never get corrected when there pointed out is what the trouble is.

What is the real 5000 plus. I have had 3 but never a new one. I have had an open port 44mm, a closed port 44mm and open port 45mm.

BIL ran new ones. He said they were the closed 45 mm cyl. I had a new Jon 590 that was 45 mm closed.

I think that most used ones today have whatever is available at the time of rebuild on them.
