That Really sucks, but PLEASE, DO NOT Involve an AS Moderator, they have warning statements about you buying at your own risk.

I have been a member of other forums (Not Chainsaw, or OPE Related) where they didn't allow any kind of for sale listings at all, even if Bob mentioned that his Model Big Boy wasn't getting used and he was thinking of selling it, it would often get deleted before Joe could ask "How Much do you want for it?", If Joe did ask before it was deleted, BOTH Bob and Joe would get warned about being Put in time out for it.

Other forums allowed a For Sale/Trade Board, but the Cardinal Rules have always been, Buy at your Own Risk, Keep it Civil on the Forums and above all else, keep it between members, Do NOT involve the Forum Administrators. Involving the Forum Administrators is a path to LOSING the For Sale/Trade Boards, I have seen it happen before, I Don't want to see it happen Here.

I saw this on the Tradin' post from back in February 18 this year, and noted the lack of description... I hope you get it all sorted out. Sucks.

Well it sure looks like I got screwed. I've given the seller the benefit of the doubt for 2 months to no avail. I guess since people just can't do the right thing no matter what. As stated above this 395 was sold as a freshly rebuilt saw. When I received it I was immediately struck by how awful the packing job was. It was clear the gas and oil weren't thoroughly drained because they had soaked the entire box through a trash bag and bubble wrap.

After getting it out I immediately noticed it was missing A LOT of parts missing, There were nuts and bolts missing, choke control... I out together a list and sent it to the seller who said he would get me the parts.

Next I went to check the compression and found that the spark plug threads had been cross threaded. I chased the threads and then proceeded to check the compression.

Hmmm, that was weird, It was getting stiff and made a weird noise so I figured it was time to pull the cylinder and take a look. It didn't take long to see what was up.

The big end bearing was puking out it guts. I had never put fuel in the saw and it was a poor parts saw.

At this point I told the seller that this needed to be made right. He offered to rebuild the saw or swap it out for another he built but I don't know how I could trust a saw from someone who sent a saw out like this and called it freshly rebuilt so I told him I wanted a refund which he agreed to but he needed to sell a few saws first. That was 2 months ago. I have stayed in contact and gently reminded him this still needed to be taken care of after I saw he had sold multiple other saws. Next when stimulus checks were going out I knew he would have the money I called and told him since they were coming he could paypal me the money when he got his and he agreed. That was last Saturday. The deposits went out Wednesday. I've called him 6 times since Thursday with no response. At this point it appears to simply a personal decision to not do the right thing. He's still getting on here regularly so he's seen my messages to him here as well. Maybe he'll get me my refund and I won't have to name names. I've tried everything else.

Name him! That's ridiculous!

Wow that sucks ! Either advise of his name or notify a moderator accordingly . Majority of sellers here are very co-operative in making things right when a problem occurred !
I have a suspicion but no confirmed name of said member, he may already be banned from selling on here but if I don`t get a name I cannot act at all.

You wouldn't never even be able to get away with that level of dishonesty on ebay!!!! I mean **** happens but to avoid dealing with this obvious issue when brought up by a seemingly VERY patient buyer is way out of line and this type of BS diminishes the entire site. If you buy a saw through a member here, of all places it should be an up front deal......sad......he should have stated "Needs rebuilding"....not "just rebuilt".....that things just toast.....good door stop …maybe...

Yeah, page 10? Will most surely do the same thing to anyone here.Need to be a stand up guy and make this right.

The break in the handle matches the saw in the video, along with the missing screws and missing levers in sellers photo's. I'm Avoiding posting links, if the OP wants to directly call him out, then he will. Not me.

Have to disagree. You absolutely should get mods involved if you have a dishonest seller in the trading post.

Granted Jerry is already following this thread so he’ll help OP if he can.

If it is indeed the fellow involved in this sale then he has been blocked from further selling on this site until he makes retribution to all those involved. The site has allowed him to have a means to stay in contact with those he had open PM`s going on with, that is why you don`t see a strike through his name that happens when a member is permanently banned. He cannot start new threads, new PM`s and he cannot sell again until all issues are solved between him and all members involved.

I have not seen this mentioned yet, but there is a way to properly handle ALL transactions. E Bay is one source with out risk. However the service is not free. A typical transaction can cost from 3% to 12% depending on some issues. The seller is guaranteed payment and fair treatment. The buyer is guaranteed a warranty and satisfaction. Then again this is not free. I have used this service when I had a concern about a transaction. Most of us have been burned a time or two. We all can live and learn on how to do business with success. Thanks

If a seller on this site had an add that indicated a saw had recently been re-built what would be a reasonable expectation for a buyer? All parts present? all functionally required parts present? a few screws missing? within spec compression?
I would advise filing a grievance right away. If you paid through FB with a debit card, file a grievance with your card company/bank as well.

Ebay is far from perfect IMO. As a buyer you will usually end up paying a lot more if the item is desirable. As a seller you pay stiff fees to Ebay. If there is a dispute, Ebay will side with the buyer 99.8 percent of the time. Dishonest buyers know this and for a reputable seller, it is only a matter of time before you end up with a dishonest buyer trying to fleece you.

I have had only one transaction here on AS that was not completed (It was from Bill G, so I do not need to say more) and it only took a Paypal complaint to get my money back.
