So how long are we looking at until Stihl, and Husky are going to be manufactured in China? please doing tell me it already happened.

Judging by all the good people working in Virginia beach I imagine it'll HOPEFULLY never happen.
I was looking at a 2007 manufactured WildThingy and it said "Assembled in USA", but it didn't say how many parts were of Chinese origin.

Fortunately, many foreign manufacturers, i.e. Toyota, Honda, Suburu, BMW, Mercedes, Kubota, Stihl and many others are beginning to appreciate the cost/quality structure available in the USA. There is still hope.

Stihl's China plant is making pressure washers for the European market right now.. next (maybe this year) will be brush cutters for Asia...
No sign of anything for the USA yet, but I imagine it will come eventually, likely first in the form of some components or subassemblies.

You Americans keep voting Republican, and you'll soon be living in China. Or at least a protectorate thereof. It's pretty messed up when a German company can have junk built in China and sold to people in North America. Is it just me, or are there TWO unnecessary middlemen there? The other irony is that they're cracking down on our efficiency standards here and altering our equipment accordingly, but turning around and having our stuff built in countries which have absolutely NO environmental regulations halfway across the globe. And we're supposed to believe that the fuel used to ship it the 10,000 miles over here doesn't offset or even far surpass the effects of less efficient engines? Gimme a break.

lol... if all your stuff aint manufactured in china, its only a matter of time.
i hate it personally... but its like the "made in japan" ra ra ra stuff that went on in the past. it was junk then, and now look at your tv's etc. best plasmas are sony / panasonic, no question...
if china follow suit, they will be the premium manufacturer in 30 years. scary huh, lets hope husky and stihl stick to their guns. its a pride thing for both companies. for the pro stuff anyway!

At the rate they are taking our jobs over here nobody will be able to.Look what it's already done to our economy and it's only getting worse.It's getting hard for alot of people just to put gas in the car.It takes alot of fuel to run products back and forth while decreasing the supply which pushes up the price of fuel.I don't think 400.00 a barrel is unrealistic in the not to distant future. I know, our conservative government is gradually selling us out too. We can't escape it (Chinese junk) though because we're so closely tied to the US economy. My point was mainly about how they own so much of America's debt that they can all but control the economy over here now, and I apologize if it came off as offensive. But this belongs in the Politics section I guess.
As for fuel prices, only about $70 of the current price per barrel is related to processing costs and demand. The rest is because of the speculators and the futures market. The real estate market collapsed, so the speculators needed something else to play with, resulting in the price doubling in the past 2 years. There is no true gas shortage or we would be seeing lineups and gas wars like the 70s.

The Republicans have decreed that no saw manufacturer with a US presence can sell to Canada, and, for a period not less the 15 years Canada will be used exclusively as a test market for Chinese saws.
